Conners

Summary:

A historic fisherman’s cottage just steps from the sea on Scotland’s spectacular Moray Firth coast.

The Conners is a beautifully restored coastal cottage in the harbour village of Gardenstown on the Aberdeenshire coast. Renovated by an award-winning architect, it blends traditional character with modern comfort to create a warm seaside retreat.

Enjoy peaceful coastal walks, abundant wildlife including dolphins, seals and seabirds, and cosy evenings beside the wood-burning stove.

The Space:

The Conners comfortably accommodates up to four guests across two bedrooms.

Upstairs you will find a master bedroom with a double bed, offering views across the waterfront towards the beach. The second bedroom features a small double expanding day bed, providing flexible sleeping space for additional guests.

The bathroom includes a modern walk-in shower, ideal for refreshing after a day exploring the coastline.

Downstairs, the cottage offers a welcoming living area centred around a traditional wood-burning stove, creating a cosy and relaxing atmosphere during cooler evenings.

A fully fitted kitchen and dining area provides everything needed to prepare and enjoy meals using the excellent local produce available along the Aberdeenshire coast.

WiFi and television are available if required, though many guests prefer to switch off and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the sea just moments away.

Guest Access:

Guests will have full private access to the entire cottage during their stay.

The Conners is a fully self-contained property, allowing guests to relax and enjoy the space at their own pace. The cottage includes a private living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms exclusively for guest use.

The coastline and harbour are only a short walk from the cottage, providing immediate access to coastal walks, beaches and wildlife watching along the Moray Firth.

The Neighborhood:

Seatown in Gardenstown is the row of coloured cottages that make up the water front in the the old village. There is a single track road that runs feet above the sea as you pass the cottages to the parking area making it a fantastic and unique part of the North East coast of Scotland.

The village itself has a small working harbour, perfect for enjoying some local fish and chips as the sun goes down or watching the boats come home. We have an excellent local pub with roaring fire, great food and drinks and a friendly welcome.

There are a number of walks where you can enjoy the abundance of local wildlife, sea birds, seals, dolphins and whales can sometimes be seen from the cottage itself or up high on the cliffs.

Just a short drive from Gardenstown you can buy seafood caught and landed locally, enjoy excellent food at the local restaurants and some fantastic golf courses are all within an hours drive.

There are a number of historical sights within easy driving range including old airfields, stately homes, castles ( including the famous ruin of Slains Castle said to have inspired Bram Stokers Dracula ) Whiskey distilleries, nature reserves and miles of beautiful coastline to explore.

Weather dependant we can also arrange for you to fly with our trusted friends and enjoy some of the North East from a light aircraft, a fantastic way to appreciate the local coastline and making for an unforgettable experience.

Getting Around:

There are a number of coastal walks that begin at the front door of our cottage including a short walk to the neighbouring village of Crovie under some towering cliffs that often requires a bit of well timed wave jumping.

There are limited public transport options with a local bus service but we highly recommend you bring your own transportation.

The drive along the waterfront can be quite a challenge but is all part of the charm of the village. You will often find a parking space beside the beach, about a 100 meters from the cottage and you are welcome to stop the car opposite the cottage to unload things before finding a space to park.

If there are no spaces beside the beach you may park near the harbour just please be mindful not to block access.

Other Things to Note:

Gardenstown is a traditional historic fishing village with narrow streets and cottages built into the hillside overlooking the harbour.

Parking is available nearby within the village a short walk from the cottage.

The Moray Firth coastline is only moments away, offering excellent opportunities for coastal walks, wildlife watching and exploring the beautiful Aberdeenshire coast.

As with many historic coastal cottages, the stairs inside the property are quite steep, and the cottage may therefore be less suitable for guests with limited mobility or very young children.

Guests should also note that, as with many traditional fishing villages, some streets are narrow and access is best on foot once parked nearby.

Interaction with Guests:

Guests are free to enjoy the cottage and village independently.

We are available if needed during your stay and are always happy to provide recommendations for local walks, places to visit, wildlife spotting and nearby dining options along the Aberdeenshire coast.

Otherwise, guests can enjoy complete privacy and a peaceful stay in Gardenstown.
