I hate to leave bad reviews and tried to work this out with the host, but he is not answering me. I stayed here 7/31/23. He was prompt in his replies on the platform which I appreciated and he let us check in early to drop our bags. When we came back, we noticed several safety and cleanliness issues, most notably 1) a towel bar partially missing at my toddler's height that he could have banged into, 2) a sliding door off its hinges, 3) shower head coming off the wall, 4) a comforter with an awful looking stain, 5) wristbands left in the shower. Outside of this, the whole apartment shook constantly from people walking up the steps to the ice cream shop. I didn’t complain about this as it’s out of Dave’s control.
I called Dave and he answered right away and offered to come fix things, but I was concerned for my toddler's safety, these were just the things I noticed and I didn't want to risk there being other issues. He agreed on the phone to refund me the remaining nights. However, he later messaged me and said he would only refund some of the remaining dollars. He gave me his word and then changed his mind, and I don't think it's smart to stay at a host's property who doesn't stand by his word. Now he is no longer answering messages. I'm sure he will reply here to say he offered to fix the issues and did so quickly (he did) and that he is technically abiding by VRBO policy (he is), but he reneged on a commitment and I wouldn't trust him with your money or your vacation.
