We booked this property based on the listing photos, but upon arrival we discovered it was a completely different house. The host stated that we had been “upgraded,” however, the property we were given did not match the quality, appearance, or expectations set by the original listing photos, and we did not consider it an upgrade.Because we spent most of our time away from the property and our family had already made travel arrangements, we chose to stay. During our stay, we needed to extend our reservation by one night. The host confirmed the extension and instructed us to leave payment for the additional night at the property. Unfortunately, despite following those instructions, our credit card was also charged for the extra night, resulting in a duplicate payment. We left the home in excellent condition—better than we found it—and contacted the host regarding the duplicate charge. Rather than addressing the issue, the host claimed that a kitchen cabinet had been damaged during our stay. This allegation was completely unfounded, as no such damage occurred while we were there.Overall, the inaccurate listing, payment issues, and unfounded damage claim made this a very disappointing experience. I would encourage future guests to carefully document the property's condition upon arrival and departure and to ensure all payment arrangements are clearly documented in writing.
