disappointed

on arrival the house was clean and tidy. the check in was very simple. the 1st major concern was the shower which stated that we couldn’t use it . there was a hole in the bath with some attempt to cover it with silicone. i contacted that host who said that he didn’t want to cancel the stay but instead could we sit down in the bath and be quick when using the shower or just use the en-suite… for all 8 of us! during our conversation i mentioned that 1 of the guests was a plumber and he asked if he could ‘take a look.. and i’ll give him a drink!’.. the following evening i brought some food for the family and there was only 4 plates.. we had to eat from small saucers. i contacted the host again and his explanation was that the plates had probably been stolen. he did offer to come over with new plates but my food had already been served etc.. next morning all 8 of us had no hot water to shower in. i again tried to contact the host but there was no response this time. i was extremely disappointed with the host and his idea of what is an acceptable basic living standards.all we wanted was a base with hot water somewhere to sleep and facilities to eat. even the en-suite shower pressure was inadequate for a shower. closer inspection showed that the whole house was poorly maintained and cheaply done. in my opinion this house needs to improve it’s standards to match its description. very disappointed in host and property. extremely unprofessional and unacceptable
