The surrounding area of this hotel is stunning until you actually drive into the grounds. Plenty of parking spaces but the grounds and the outside of the building looks shabby. The reception was dark and dreary and the desk staff looked like he'd rather be anywhere but there! Absolutely no welcome or greeting no please or thankyou at all. Terrible customer service. The redeeming feature of the room was the clean looking bedding and towels, other than that i have to say ive never stayed in a room that was so dirty and tired looking but a better word would be exhausted!! The door frame near the yale lock looked like it had been hacked at. The room carpet was badly worn out. You couldnt see a view from the window because the windows were filthy and so were the window sills. The bathroom was disgraceful. Luckily i always have toilet wipes with me because there was the tiniest amount of toilet roll left on the roll. The shower curtain was hanging off, the radiator knob was held on with duct tape, mildew and mould throughout the grouting behind the sink and toilet was really dirty. Sink and bath not clean. Sink taps didnt turn easily and water dripped out constantly. I used bottled water to brush my teeth. I had to brave the shower in the morning and although it was powerful the water only came out of half of the holes in the shower head. This hotel needs a major overhaul, it lets the beautiful surrounding area down. Staff need training!

It's cheap, very basic, and a night to remember

My deluxe room was quite the opposite however, for the price, what could I expect. There was one person on the front desk who had to deal with everything, there were no other staff. We were able to store our cycles in the kitchen which appeared no longer in use and he kindly, eventually, found a remote control that worked the TV. Unfortunately, at about 2am, the noise started, shouting and running about in the corridors, arguments, banging on doors, apart from not sleeping, this was quite frightening as the room doors were not that secure. This continued until about 6am. I asked for an explanation on check out and was told it was a crowd who had already been banned but I guess the sole member of staff was unable to do much on his own. I don't know whether it was drugs related or not but as soon as it had been quiet for a while, I was out of there hoping not to meet anyone in the corridors.

Basic poor hotel

Mattress springs stuck in you wafer thin pillows painted over sockets. Bathroom horrible. Restaurant closed down 4 years ago yet they have a bridal room? Looks like it was once a nice place. Outside dirty paint p peeling off weeds overtaken car park. Would not stay again. Staff were friendly though.

Check in was quick and easy. I had booked a twin room but on arrival we only had 1 small cup, and 1 pillow on each bed, we were supplied with extras once I went to reception. When making tea we discovered we only had supplies for one each so went without before departure. Room was shabby with broken furniture but beds were comfortable and we had a good night sleep

The whole building needs total refurbishment. We had a broken mirror, filthy wardrobes, disgusting bathroom, dirty kettle. The clean bed was the only redeeming feature or we would have slept in the car.

Staff were helpful, and provided everything we asked for. Given that this is an hotel, I found it appalling to find that they had no facilities for meals. We had to ask for spoons to make hot drinks. There was nowhere in the bathroom to hang dressing gowns etc. Room 123 had a shower over a bath, but the bath was slippery when wet. Also, there was no mat to step out onto. Should I have had to ask for this too? The information sheet in the room mentioned "School House Bar", but this was nowhere to be found. The curtain pole was not lined up properly with the window, letting in light at sun rise, and disturbing sleep. Tiles in the bathroom were grimy. There was a threadbare patch in the carpet by the entrance to the bathroom. Paintwork in the bathroom was worn. In short, the hotel was a disaster and I'd not recommend it to anyone.
