The cottage we stayed in was great and very spacious! Loved the fireplace. Due to the weather we stayed in a lot. Was disappointed they never cleaned the ice rink off enough to skate on it.

We came to Mountain Lake Lodge to celebrate a 60th birthday with our daughters, traveling from Florida and Maryland. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. The resort is very limited. There is only one main restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The café offers very little—just a few muffins, some coffee, and chips. The Tavern bar also has restricted hours, and while the drinks were okay, they were definitely overpriced. We also had an issue at the Tavern. I ordered what I believed to be potato chips, but they arrived as waffle-style fries, which I did not want. Even after explaining the misunderstanding, we were still charged for it. Where is the courtesy? For the 60th birthday dinner, we ate at The Harvest Restaurant. The meal was extremely disappointing: $65 for one very small steak, a scoop of mashed potatoes, and a few uneven pieces of asparagus. We were given only a $10 discount, which did not feel like a fair adjustment for the quality and value. Customer service was inconsistent. The front desk gentleman who checked us in was great and very welcoming. However, a front desk lady we dealt with later was rude and not helpful. The café employee was pleasant, but the restaurant manager did not seem willing to address our dining concerns in a meaningful way. Another bar near Salt Pond has limited hours as well. Because of the resort limitations, we ended up spending a lot of time off property in Blacksburg (about 20 minutes away), wh

It is a very nice hotel. Many people may not know that mountain Lake no longer has water. Our room was good size, updated and nicely two beds. But we had to request a refrigerator. And there was no TV in the room. The bar is nice but small. It has the only TV in the hotel. And World Series was on

The staff was as amazing as the lodge and grounds. Great weekend get away to watch Louisville Football at Virginia Tech. They even shuttled us to and from the game. The Tavern Lodge Bar was excellent as was Harvest the restaurant.

Too many steps for older people. Not for folks with walking disabilities. Everything was fine except just too many steps. This should be in the write-up so anyone who is somewhat handicapped would know in advance. This is a place for younger people, not older ones. We are in our eighties. Very nice resort overall.

The check in staff were kind and helpful. The dining staff was not. We checked with the receptionist about the wait time. We were told since we didn’t have reservations the wait time would be about 10 minutes. 1 hour later we were still waiting and no updates or acknowledgement. With the time getting late. We left the property and went to Pembroke, Va to get dinner. The next morning we were stupid enough to try again. Only to wait 15 minutes for the receptionist to come to the desk. We just gave up and checked out of this time warp.

The service in the restaurant was terrible. Inadequate staff!!! Ate 3 meals over 3 days. No hostess on duty to seat you. Had to ask for condiments for meal ( cream, sugar, salt & pepper’) Super on Wednesday was poorly seasoned , Thursday morning menu items not available, Friday morning pancake would not Melt butter. The wait from time our order was placed until it was delivered to the table on Friday was 1 hour!!!

We had a fabulous stay here. The lodge is gorgeous and the rooms are comfortable. The food in Harvest was absolutely delicious. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The manager, Heidi was the sweetest and Joanna and Lyndsey were awesome as well. Johnny was so nice and he kept the fireplace going so it was a great, cozy spot to sit and talk. This place is a must for Dirty Dancing fans and we will be returning sometime!
