A cute property. A lot smaller than we imagined it would be but okay for two people for a couple of nights. A couple of things could’ve been improved - the freezer section in the fridge was completely iced up which made it tricky to put our frozen supplies in and the bottom tray on fridge door was missing so milk had to lay on top of food. The inside edges of the shower cubicle were a bit mucky! The back door was difficult to shut and the tv remote didn’t work. All minor inconveniences though that didn’t detract from the stay. Communication with the hosts was very good via WhatsApp. On the whole, I’d recommend the property if you want to stay somewhere ‘a bit different’.

Unfinished or poorly finished?

Unfinished or just poorly finished - we couldn't decide. Honeycomb has great potential. It is a cute structure in the woods. It has some lovely touches including a well equipped nice kitchen, plentiful supply of tea, fresh coffee and sugar, comfy bed and nice toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and moisturiser), endless hot water, comfy sofa and a great hot tub. But, aside from the kitchen, the finish is poor. There's skirting board missing in places, edging trims missing in the shower, and door architrave missing meaning you see the bits these would normally cover up giving a shabby feel. Overall the paintwork needs another coat. None of the blinds fit the windows and some are broken. The shower head is a monsoon rain head which when we arrived had 80% of the nozzles blocked so definitely not monsoon. We unscrewed it and gave it a good clean unblocking every nozzle and put it back - this worked a treat and the shower was great again but the owners should have spotted this, not paying guests. The shower floor was stained and squidgy which was peculiar. The bathroom door didnt have a catch on so the door didn't stay closed. Holes hadn't been been finished around radiator pipes, the expandable foam instead just licked with paint. Overall we had a lovely time. The owners put bunting and balloons out for my birthday which is a nice thoughtful touch. Please just finish Honeycomb off with a bit of thought and care.
