The space

Welcome to Wisteria Retreat, a peaceful, dog-friendly boutique apartment overlooking Blenheim and the surrounding hills. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, making it an ideal Marlborough escape for guests who love travelling with their pets.



Occupying the private upper level of our much-loved family home, Wisteria Retreat is suited to romantic escapes, relaxed weekends, business trips and local events. It accommodates up to four guests, with one king bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge.



Inside, you’ll find a spacious open-plan lounge and dining area, 75-inch television, fast Wi-Fi, full kitchen, private bathroom, laundry facilities, year-round heating and cooling, and a private infrared sauna—perfect for relaxing after exploring Marlborough’s walking and cycling trails.



The kitchen includes an oven, gas cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, coffee-making facilities, cookware, crockery, glassware and utensils. Please note that the Thermomix shown in some photographs is no longer available.



A changing continental breakfast for the first two nights and welcome selection may include homemade granola, bagels, bread, cream cheese, pesto, jam, eggs, tea, coffee, milk, coffee syrups, matcha, chocolate sauce, snacks and cooking essentials. Local wine may also be provided for special occasions when arranged in advance.



The private bathroom includes a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, hairdryer, toiletries and fresh towels. The apartment also has a heat pump, washing machine and clothes horse.



Some of the tiles in the home were individually handmade and selected in Peru. Look closely and you may notice tiny drawings created by local children, along with the occasional dog paw print. These small imperfections are part of the retreat’s unique character.



Outside, guests can enjoy the upper deck, outdoor dining area and upper lawned terrace, with sweeping views across Blenheim and towards the surrounding hills.



Please be aware that the property has a sloping driveway, deck stairs and an unfenced terraced garden. Babies, toddlers and young children must be closely supervised outdoors at all times.



The outdoor spa is not currently operational and is awaiting removal.



Wisteria Retreat is located in peaceful Witherlea, approximately two minutes from Redwoodtown shops and supermarkets, five minutes from central Blenheim and Wairau Hospital, and ten minutes from Marlborough Airport. The Wither Hills Farm Park and walking tracks are also nearby.



The retreat is a convenient base for exploring Marlborough’s wineries, attending local events, walking the Wither Hills tracks, visiting the Marlborough Sounds or simply enjoying a restful weekend away.



Local favourites include Allan Scott Bistro for lunch, Gramado’s Restaurant for dinner, the Marlborough Farmers’ Market on Sunday mornings, winery tours and Marlborough Tour Company trips into the Sounds.



Seasonal events such as Garden Marlborough and the Marlborough Wine & Food Festival also bring many visitors to the region.



Guest access

Guests have private access to the entire upper apartment, including:



* King bedroom

* Lounge and sofa bed

* Full kitchen and dining area

* Private bathroom

* Infrared sauna

* Laundry facilities

* Upper deck

* Upper lawned terrace



The retreat has its own private entrance and lockbox for convenient self-check-in.



The garage, lower terrace, lower apartment and lower end of the property are not included in the booking.



There is a lockable internal connecting door between the two apartments. It is secured from both sides, and guests cannot access the lower apartment.



Free parking is available for up to two standard vehicles, either down the driveway or on the roadside.



The driveway is sloped. Large trailers, boats, campervans and oversized work vehicles may need to use suitable roadside parking and should be discussed before booking.



Other things to note

Wisteria Retreat is the private upper apartment of a larger home.



The owners or other occupants may occasionally stay in the completely separate lower apartment when they are in Blenheim for work or other commitments. Both apartments have their own private entrance and facilities.



Although we take care to respect our guests’ privacy, you may occasionally hear normal household movement, voices or dogs from the lower apartment. You may also occasionally see people or dogs in the lower terraced area.



We prefer to make this clear before booking so guests know exactly what to expect.



An exterior security camera monitors the driveway and entrance area only. There are no cameras inside the accommodation or in private guest areas.



Sleeping arrangements



The retreat can accommodate up to four guests:



* Bedroom: one king bed

* Lounge: one sofa bed



A portable cot is available for babies by request. For safety reasons, no additional soft mattress is supplied. Guests will need to bring suitable cot linen and baby bedding.



Please let us know when booking if you intend to use the sofa bed or portable cot so we can prepare the space correctly.



Pets



We love dogs, and up to two well-behaved dogs may stay by prior arrangement.



A $30 pet fee per stay applies for up to two dogs.



Please include the number, size and breed of your dogs in your booking request or message.



The outdoor area is only partially fenced, so dogs must be supervised and kept under control at all times.



Dogs must not be left unattended at the property unless this has been discussed with us beforehand. If we receive a barking complaint from neighbours, we may need to contact you.



When the lower apartment is occupied, our two small dogs may also be on the property. You may occasionally see them in the lower outdoor area.



Guests are responsible for any damage or additional cleaning caused by their pets.



Families and children



Children and babies are welcome; however, the outdoor area may not suit every family.



The raised deck, stairs, sloping driveway and unfenced terraced garden mean that babies, toddlers and young children must be directly supervised whenever they are outside.



A portable cot is available by request.



House rules



Check-in is from 3:00 pm.



Checkout is by 11:00 am.



Early check-in or late checkout may occasionally be available by prior arrangement.



The maximum occupancy is four guests.



Strictly no parties or events.



No smoking or vaping inside the property.



Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 8:00 am.



Visitors are permitted but must leave by 10:00 pm. The booking guest is responsible for the conduct of all visitors and for any damage they cause.



Dogs must be approved before arrival, and the $30 pet fee applies per stay for up to two dogs.



Children must be closely supervised in all outdoor areas.



Before checking out, please place used towels in the shower, lock the doors and return the key as directed.



There is no long cleaning list. We simply ask that you leave the retreat reasonably tidy.



Longer stays



Stays of up to forteen nights are welcome. If you require longer than this please put through a request 



For stays longer than four nights, fresh linen and towels can be arranged.
