What to Do in Bogor
Two words: Baby camels. Visit the baby zoo at Taman Safari Indonesia south of the city, where you can feed four-legged friends. Feeling more refined? Trade your pith helmet for Bogor Palace, located on the south edge of the Bogor Botanical Garden. Explore the flora before wandering over to Museum Zoologi to check out well-preserved fauna. You can’t feed the wildlife on expo there, though, because they’re already stuffed. When you’re ready to abscond to the trees, travel about 80 km west to Taman National Halimun Salak, a national park with hot springs and waterfalls. If lounging in the tropics makes you hungry, order the regional specialty, karedok, a salad smothered in spicy peanut sauce. When yums turn to yawns, relax in cosy Bogor hotels nestled amongst palm trees and bamboo.
