Overall great home. Tons of room, which was great. The water pressure on the well system is a bit of an inconvenience, but it was stated in the home the water pressure issue. Otherwise decently clean. A couple of minor house issues, but the cabin rental manager was nice about my report.

Plenty of space for 5 families

My friends stayed here for our annual Tweetsie trip we take with our kids. There were 11 adults and 10 kids ranging from 4 months to 7 years old. We loved the layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms. Each family had privacy and space when needed. The outdoor space is incredible. Loved how we could all sit at that huge patio table together at the same time! There is a grassy area for the kids to run around and a beautiful fire pit. There were some issues with the house that didn't totally disrupt our stay but would want to make sure they were addressed, hence the knock off one star. I contacted the rental company about these. We had a host on call via text and phone who was very friendly and responsive! Perfect location for Tweetsie, Alpine Roller Coaster, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Boone, and all the highlights.

Great house

I would definitely stay again. It is not easy finding homes that can accommodate a large group with many bedrooms. Check in process was great and with a personal greeting. House was clean with plenty of space for my group of 12 coworkers.

Great place for a big family gathering.

We stayed at the Mountain Family Lodge over Christmas. It was great for our multi-generational group. We appreciated the two kitchens for meal prep and some holiday baking. The kitchens were well equipped but we brought along a few specialty items (rice cooker, huge mixing bowls). The surrounding area was full of nice day hikes and the proximity to the Parkway was useful. The only issue was that the pull out sofa in the downstairs living room was not usable for adults to sleep on. It should be replaced or not counted in available sleeping rooms. It was awful. Overall a fabulous stay - the management company brought some pies for Christmas dinner and had a tree already set up. Would consider coming back in the summer when we could use the porch more.

Abundance of Bedrooms

This was a good location for access to Boone and surrounding area. The house was huge with many bedrooms. However, the design felt like multiple additions and the flow of the house was awkward. Both dishwashers need replacing (the top trays fall off of the rollers every time you attempt to use). The grills were both very old and barely functional. The worst part for our group is that the kitchens were separated from the great room and we rented the space for 3 days of planning meetings. If you are just looking for lodging then it will work fine for you.

Disappointed by the interior.... loved the property

The property ground are absolutely beautiful!! We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors when weather permitted. The courtyard, fire pit, covered porch with large seating area, and the green grassy court area were wonderful! Unfortunately, our indoor experiences were not quite so perfect.... The online description boasts of a "Brand new HVAC with central heat and air conditioning installed this year!" so we were appalled to discover the first floor had no AC. The entire first floor was terribly humid, hot, and smelled horribly of cat urine throughout the duration of our stay. There are several bedrooms, a living room, and a media room on the first floor which were rendered useless throughout our stay because of these awful conditions - we used these rooms only for sleeping since our large group needed the additional beds. Our contact person suggested we open windows to air the rooms out and cool it down, but this didn't help during the warm daytime hours and only helped minimally at night - additionally the first floor living room has no windows and several of the bedrooms had broken windows that wouldn't open. When I complained about these conditions, I was told maintenance would come check the windows, but they never did. There are floor fans in the first floor rooms, many of which are broken and function poorly. There were some minor inconveniences throughout our stay: We were not informed that the two kitchens, each set up to accommodate 30 guests, would each have only one kitchen towel. The water pressure was awful and the showers would often stop working mid-use for several minutes at a time. Some of the windows once opened, would not close, and others wouldn't open at all. Most concerning were some safety issues that arose throughout our stay: The water would turn off mid-shower unexpectedly and when it came back on it would be scalding hot and wouldn't cool down even if the handle was turned all the way to the cold setting!! We had one guest get burned on their chest and another had to quickly pull a child out of the tub when they couldn't get the water temperature to reduce. There is also a set of stone stairs that lead down to a fire pit. This is flanked by a lighting system that was inoperable throughout our visit, leading to some safety concern as we had to navigate stairs in the dark with small children. We did inform maintenance of these safety issues upon departure. We might consider visiting again, but NOT during summer!!!

Unhappy guests

There were multiple issues experienced during our stay. There were multiple beds with spots on sheets which were not clean. The shower in the Blue Manor room stopped up during our first shower. We called in to get someone come out and fix it several hours after our arrival. The advertisements did not indicate that there was no air conditioning on the first floor. The first level was extremely uncomfortable for the guests which stayed on that level. The ice maker did not work on the upstairs kitchen. That kitchen also had a major ant problem. The house smelled as if animals had been there very stuffy smell. The person who was supposed to greet us was not available via telephone and was not there when we arrived. She and a second person came and seemed to have no idea why they were there. The alarm went off at least ten times in three days at all times of the night. I’m requesting compensation for all of the issues we experienced. I did not want to put all of these issues within a survey as it would have not been beneficial for your property management company. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter!

2 Time Stayed, This Time Was Even Better

This place is awesome. They built a back patio downstairs, expanded the upstairs kitchen area and added a grass landing that was a fantastic place for the kids to play, or just to go relax, play Kube, Cornhole or whatever. We have traveled together to multiple places and personally, this is my favorite region and home to come back to. It is spacious, relaxing and an amazing atmosphere. We will be going here again.
