More cons than pros for the price
We were very excited to stay at this property with my mother and her 2 dogs. My husband is allergic, so the dual homes side by side seemed perfect - and with 2 medium-large dogs, 2 fenced backyard areas was perfect in the Boston area.
Unfortunately, though the owner was aware we were bringing dogs, he failed to mention that "fenced" actually meant fenced just in 3 sides, not fully fenced. Moreover, the 2nd "yard" measures about 4x4 ft or so - also not fully enclosed.
The photos were deceiving in terms of both the size and safety of the yard (I think the pics in the listing are from before the fenced areas were split into 2 yards, and there's no mention that it's not fully enclosed).
Aside from that glaring issue, pros & cons of the property:
Pros:
1. Fairly central location to any Boston area destination
2. Plenty of space for larger families
3. Laundry
4. Central air on main floor
5. There is a grill and some green space that is semi private
6. Complimentary coffee and tea
7. Offstreet parking
Cons:
1. Fenced does not mean fully enclosed, so beware if you have pets
2. Communication was frequent leading up to the stay, but inconsistent. For example, we were given 2 different door codes, and 2 different rates to checkout late
3. A lot of little issues / disrepair. For example, a poorly patched hole in the kitchen ceiling from an obvious 2nd floor leak (there's just a large weird panel covering the hole, mostly), a vanity upstairs is missing screws in the hinge so the door falls half off, the walls are very dirty, the air conditioner upstairs (a window unit) hadn't been cleaned in quite some time and was barely working until we cleaned the filter ourselves
4. No central air upstairs, and the smallest bedroom has no window unit - very hot and stuffy in summer despite the fans
5. For the price, I expected some basic toiletries - shampoo, conditioner, soap. Both units were missing shampoo and one unit was missing a bar of soap
6. Not enough cups, plates, or glasses for the total allowed number of guests to eat more than one meal without doing dishes, which meant the dishwasher was run several times a day, 1/3 full
7. There were pots and pans available, but all but one sheet pan was incredibly dirty, unusable without tinfoil, & all but 2 (across both units) of the nonstick pots had the coating scraping and flaking off, not safe for cooking
8. Parking - very narrow width makes it difficult to open passenger doors
Simply not worth the high price
