Dumpton Gap is a charming, semi-secluded neighbourhood in Broadstairs, nestled between the town and Ramsgate. Here's what gives it its unique appeal:
~ A relatively quiet, sandy bay of around 150 m, backed by chalk cliffs and a concrete promenade
~ Rock-pooling at low tide offers glimpses of starfish, dogfish, limpets, and periwinkles
~ Tightly knit, welcoming vibe — locals praise its walkability, peace, and dog-friendliness
~ Favoured by walkers, families, dog-owners and those seeking a calmer beach experience than Broadstairs’ main bays
~ Sam’s Café / kiosk: seasonal, serves tea, bacon sandwiches, coffee, ice cream; there's also an Italianate Glasshouse nearby for tea
~ Dumpton Gap feels like a hidden coastal gem. It offers, peaceful sandy shores for family days and solo reflection, a strong local spirit with pet‑friendly walking trails, handy amenities like café, facilities, and parkland. Not forgetting fascinating heritage hidden in its paths and cliffs while being perfect for those who want seaside charm with community warmth, but without the crowds of Broadstairs' busier bays.

It is a 10 minute walk into Broadstairs and 20 minutes or so into Ramsgate

Loved our stay

Completely loved our stay. Could not have been more accommodating for us. House is absolutely beautiful. Nice and quite and perfect location. Plenty of parking spaces too. We will return. Only (small) negative - can you please put a lock on the main bathroom door.

As close to perfect as it gets

Immaculate flat with stunning sea views across a private garden. Spacious bedrooms, high quality frnishings, spotlessly clean. The location is superb, being a few mins from a quieter beach than Viking Bay. But a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of Broadstairs and Ramsgate too. We stayed with our two teenagers and there was more than enough personal space for loafing around. It's a very peaceful spot. Absolutely wonderful.

Excellent location with a stunning view

We stayed for a couple of days in the beautifully arranged, modern apartment. The beds were very comfortable, powerful shower and full of daily light a beutiful living room and a kitchen. We enjoyed the garden where we could admire the Seaview. The apartment has a perfect location, only a few minutes walk to a vast, clean beach where we enjoyed a sunrise and walks along the sea.The host was very responsive and helpful with suggesting local restaurants. I'd highly recommend this place for a perfect gateway.

Home away from home near the beach

This is our fourth (fifth?) stay with Seastay, but the first at Goodwin's View. A lovely few days, with wonderful views out to sea and a modern, comfortable flat (and a super-comfy mattress). The beach is a 5-10 minute walk, depending on how keen you are. Both Broadstairs and Ramsgate are a slightly longer walk away, but easy to do. Or an easy drive if you're in a hurry. It was great to switch off properly, and I'm sure we'll be back. Take a look at Luna's View, which is the upstairs apartment. Just as nice, with an even broader view but no back garden. Both are great, take your pick!

Stunning

The apartment was absolutely beautiful. Tastefully decorated, light airy and clean. Beds were comfy as was the furniture. Fixtures and fittings were of a high standard. Few items would have been really helpful in the kitchen such as a few baking tins, a bread knife and a clothes rack for drying. Other than that absolutely brilliant. Check in was very easy via the lockbox but 4pm was late for check in and 10am was very early for check out, especially for a Sunday. Our group had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed the apartment, it proximity to Broadstairs and the stunning sea view. The location is a perfect base and is very quiet. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.
