Our experience at this property was deeply frustrating due to overbooking and a lack of accountability. We chose this hotel specifically for its proximity to Grand Place and the train station for a short one-night stay.
After checking in early and being told our room would be ready later, we returned at 10:00 PM to find we had no room. Management claimed a "leak," though it became clear the hotel was simply oversold, as multiple other families were in the lobby facing similar issues.
The "recovery" offered was unacceptable:
Downgrade: We were initially offered a lower-class hotel 20 minutes away, defeating the purpose of our booking.
Safety & Transport: Despite it being late, raining, and us being two women with luggage, they expected us to take a train and walk to the new location. We had to insist they provide a taxi, which should have been offered immediately.
Lack of Courtesy: After the significant displacement, they refused to include breakfast at the new hotel as a gesture of goodwill—even after the receiving hotel’s staff called them to suggest it.
It was clear the staff’s priority was room logistics rather than guest safety or experience. If you value reliability and professional service, I would recommend booking elsewhere.
