I have absolutely no issue with old—in fact, I often prefer older places with character. What I do have an issue with is not clean, and unfortunately, this stay really missed the mark.
The room smelled very musty, and the bathroom was full of mildew in the shower and all over the ceiling. There was hair in the shower, and it was in such poor condition that we couldn’t bring ourselves to use it. That immediately made us wonder whether the rest of the room had been properly cleaned, so we checked the bed. Sure enough, there was hair all over the sheets, which clearly hadn’t been changed since the last guest.
We reported this to the front desk, and to their credit, the attendant came right away, changed the bedding, and agreed that the room should never have been in that condition.
On top of that, there was a bright emergency light above the door that lit up the entire room all night long. It felt like trying to sleep in a hallway…
There is no food available.
If this property is short-staffed, I truly understand, but it would be better to rent out fewer rooms and ensure they’re properly cleaned, including the carpets. Every issue I’ve mentioned is fixable, and I genuinely hope management takes this feedback seriously and becomes more conscientious going forward.
At the moment, though, I just can’t bring myself to recommend this place and am unsure how it has an 8.2 rating…
