About this property

Experience our Traditional Navajo Hogan near Grand Canyon

Our unique home will provide a once in a life time off the grid experience from 1 guest to 3 guests. Located in a secluded and remote location of the Western Navajo Nation, our home is easily accessible to local restaurants, stores, and not far from two of the natural wonders, Grand Canyon and Monument Valley.
Our one room earth home called a Hogan, is located along the Little Colorado River and is 29 miles east of Grand Canyon and a 1 hour drive north of Flagstaff.
It is on the family homestead of my grandmothers summer sheep camp.
There is no electricity, the stars and moon are all you need.
There is no running water, however 5 gallonwater jug will be provided for your use.
There is no plumbing, a short brisk walk to a outhouse is available.

Comfortable accommodations for two are shown in the picture, however we have a additional cot for a third guest when reserved at booking for a small additional fee.

You will have access to the large open space within the homestead, including the outdoor cooking stove for cooking purpose.

This is a self check in/check out accommodation. I or a family member are only 1 1/2 mile away. Throughout your stay I will always be available by text or a phone call if you have any questions during your stay.

We give our guest their privacy at the male hogan when occupied. We also have more structures on the homestead that is accessible to everyone in my family who do maintenance work on the property.

Being a guest at our family homestead will give you glimpse of our daily life without running water, electricity or plumbing.

JUNE-JULY-AUGUST- SEPTEMBER:
Expect summer temperatures to be over 100 degrees during the day and as low as 70 degrees at night. Please check the weather and temperatures before booking if you are not use to the Arizona heat.Best time to check in is at 7:30 PM. Please be aware that the dirt road conditions and river can be altered by unpredictable southwest monsoon weather including the rainstorms and flooding that would result in possible cancellation for your safety.

OCTOBER-NOVEMBER-DECEMBER-JANUARY-FEBRUARY-MARCH-APRIL-MAY:
Please be prepared for cooler winter temperatures. During your stay, it is highly recommended you know how to build a basic fire for heating purpose and to maintain the stove throughout the night to keep warm.

Besides myself and my family only a few minutes away, the next neighbors are 15-20 miles further up the road. The only neighbors are the coyotes, fox, horses, cattle and birds. Occasionally an antelope will graze early in the mornings.

Cameron is the entrance of the Navajo Nation and also a short distance of 25 miles to Grand Canyon South Rim entrance.

Cameron Trading Post and the United States Post Office is located 4 miles away.

Burger King, Blue Canyon Grill and Simpsons Market, a laundromat, Navajo Arts & Craft, and Cameron Visitor Center is 5 miles.
