I think the "Pending" deposit should be cancelled as soon as possible following checkout. Some other places, it's returned within an hour of leaving. 4 hours after checkout and it's still listed as "Pending" in my account. If it's taken immediately on checkin, it can't be that difficult to cancel once the room is checked.

We were welcomed with not the friendliest reception. When we went to the room. The fridge was empty. We were advised that to get anything we needed to go downstairs and get from a kiosk. When hoping to order food, we were told there was a $5 service fee for the food delivered to the room. This was not mentioned anywhere apart from the menu flyer. We wanted water, one of the hotel staff instead of being courteous to us and giving water, as we had a child with us. He came up all the way just to show where the $5 fee was mentioned in the food menu. Our expectations were not high. A s a family we just wanted to rest and get food. we were pleased with the pool facilities. Along with the level 6 restaurant people, who accommodated us without a booking. Unfortunately our stay wasn't as pleasant and would not look for Rex again next time visiting Canberra.

Canberra Rex Hotel great experience

It has a good bar and eatery roof top with great view. Plenty of free parking. Staff were very helpful with places to visit and sight seeing

Clean quiet and comfortable at a reasonable price

Requested a quiet room to get some work and study done. The team were lovely and accomodating and found me just what I needed. Room was very clean although the carpet was a bit worn. Gym and pool were in reasonable condition especially the cardio equipment. Braddon restaurants and the city a short walk away and a tram stop was close by. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Our stay was very good. The staff were excellent. My only issue was that each day I had to ask for milk, and on one day tea bags, as house keeping forgot to replenish them. But they did a great job in cleaning tidying and remaking our bed. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

The smiles at reception said it all.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Rex. The conversation and smiles at reception bode well for a positive stay. Assistance with parking was wonderful. It was comfortable (although the beds are firmer than we are used to) and the room was clean. I really appreciated the pool. Perhaps considering reducing/removing the small plastic toiletries would be a small improvement.

Staff were very polite and efficient. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Loved the balcony for fresh air. We attended a wedding there and it went very well. A wonderful venue.
