Wonderful property, beautiful location
We’ve returned from an enjoyable two week family holiday in rural France. Bois de Belot was a wonderful base for visiting the Lot et Garonne and Dordogne and owners, Veronique and Jaques most welcoming hosts. Bois de Belot is a perfect base for a calm, relaxing holiday. The photographs don’t really do justice to the house or this beautiful part of France. Morning coffee was enjoyed on the quiet terrace marvelling at the panoramic views, fragranced by the scent of garden flowers. Meals were enjoyed outside too, a fabulous canopy providing shade when necessary. The house is very comfortable and extremely well-equipped (Big telly, Netflix etc and soundbar). The kitchen was, in our experience, unusually generously provisioned and one of the bedrooms has an adjustable bed which could be helpful for those with aching backs and dodgy knees. A car is necessary for this part of the world. The nearest shops in Cancon are walkable (4km) but you might not want to do that carrying bags on a hot day. A good alternative could be electric bikes which make the undulating terrain managable. Go no further than the services of Station Bee’s cycle hire in Villarreal and Monbazier run by Frederique and Franck who will deliver and collect bikes to and from the property. The good sized (10m) pool and outside kitchen were most welcome additions, the Water temperature pleasingly warm due to the retractable cover. Pleasant strolls amidst woods and rolling hills begin outside the front gate.
