The Brickell Suite honors the Hoyt family’s legacy. Engadine was completed in 1885 by Captain John Keais Hoyt and Mary Elizabeth Bensel Hoyt. Their daughter Mamie later wrote in her diaries that each bedroom was decorated with its own unique character and colors. The mansion was among the first in the valley to feature central heat, indoor plumbing supplied by a gravity fed attic tank, and even its own water powered generator
