Overall, I truly enjoyed my time at this property. The staff was friendly, attentive, and very helpful. They always made me feel welcomed and were very helpful. The room was phenomenal too - especially my view of table mountain. This place was well worth the money!

Great large suite, awesome balcony and very clean but the wifi, TV and telephone didn’t work. Getting service on our cell phones was difficult so we ended up feeling unsafe without the ability to contact anyone if there was an emergency. We had to do everything regarding our trip (like confirming reservations, calling Ubers, etc.) from outside the hotel. When we complained about the Wi-Fi, we were offered another room where the Wi-Fi and phone also weren’t working, then gaslit for days about “IT coming to fix it” They never came. Housekeeping and the hotel staff will knock barely audibly, then walk right in without waiting for an answer. Probably wouldn’t stay here again for the price.

We stayed at the Onyx for 6 days and enjoyed it very much. Staff were very helpful and housekeeping were very good. It is in a good location, felt quite safe and the Concierge was very helpful in organising additional tours. Close to Big Red Bus stop, which allowed us to take in Cape Town. Also visited V and A wharf, walked a few times (took about 20 minutes) and took ubers of a night. Would highly recommend. Only downside was breakfast, seems a seperate business and staff were very pushy on being tipped each morning which is quite unusual for a hotel including breakfast, orders were mixed up and slow.

We enjoyed our stay at The Onyx. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We slept well in the comfortable king size bed. We appreciated the large capacity refrigerator, dishes and utensils in the kitchenette. We could look out the window and see Table Mountain and the activities below. There are two restaurants on site. The MRK was our breakfast spot. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The young people in this restaurant made us feel so welcomed. Each morning we’d dance along with our hosts to our table. We enjoyed the Yu Restaurant for dinner. The food was Asian inspired and tasty. The hotel is located in the Central Business District, just a short taxi ride to Victoria & Albert Waterfront. Staff at the reception desk hailed cabs for us so it was convenient.
