They have changed their dog rules since we were there last year. You can’t leave dogs in room while you go eat. Should tell you that before you come so you have opportunity to leave dogs at home. The 100.00 dollar fine is a little much for leaving your dogs for 1 hour. Messed up our anniversary dinner.

the flooring was coming up and the furniture was falling apart. i sat in the chairs and it all but fell apart, when i asked to have the chairs replaced they brought me two folding chairs. they did not have another king room so i was stuck with it. It really sucked. i stayed there last year and it was nice dont know what happened.

The AC was really loud. The front porch light was strobing all night. Had to smoke on a sidewalk next to the main road. No coffee till 7 am and the breakfast was eggs and potatoes

The room was clean. I was given the wrong room and overall that wasn’t that big of a deal. What was a big deal, the clerk gave someone else my room code and at approx. 9:30 pm someone came in my room while I was in bed and the safety latch didn’t hold the door so needless to say I didn’t sleep well nor did I feel very safe. I was by myself and a woman. What if I had been naked, in the shower or in the midst of something. I called the front desk and while they were apologetic it didn’t change what happened. I asked for a refund at check out and was denied not offered any sort of compensation. The employee on duty had to call the manager, Lydia and she wouldn’t even talk to me. Expedia is dealing with this now. I get things happen but that’s something that should never happen! The Historian is an older hotel but it’s in a good location. It could use some updating.

The room was clean and reasonably appointed, though somewhat dated. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown Gardnerville, and the presence of a pair of L2 chargers on the fairly quiet street next to the hotel.

In order to check-in 55 minutes early they wanted to charge us an additional $50. I have never heard of this practice. The pillows were hard as a rock and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. In addition, the place has a great deal of traffic noise throughout the night. We were very disappointed, especially considering some of the reviews we read. They must have been posted by the owners and their relatives.
