In summer, Castel di Sangro offers the possibility of bathing at 'La spiagetta', a suggestive and well-equipped place for those who love the mountains but do not want to give up the sea. Castel di Sangro is a characteristic Abruzzese village located at an altitude of 800 metres, ideal for those seeking a holiday dedicated to history, nature and relaxation. The town retains its medieval structure and the Civita, the oldest quarter of the town, where the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is located. Castel di Sangro is considered the main centre of Alto Sangro, where the famous ski resorts of Roccaraso, Pescocostanzo and Rivisondoli are located.
The village offers a unique architectural heritage thanks to its churches, palaces and historical buildings. Not to be missed is a visit to the charming medieval village of Roccacinquemiglia, an ancient hamlet of Castel di Sangro.
