Bed in Cazalla de la Sierra on the Hueznar River, nestled within a gallery forest, right at the start of the Greenway in the Sierra Norte de Sevilla and at the foot of the GR 48, the Great Hiking Trail that crosses the Sierra Morena. Hiking trails and the Molino Cork slopes also begin here. Cattle trails also depart from here, including the Cazalla-Extremadura Trail, the Rivera Hueznar Trail, and the Cordel de Merinas Trail.
Other natural attractions along the Paraíso del Hueznar include the Isla Margarita and Castillejo recreational areas. This is also where the stretch of the Molino Cork intensive trout fishing reserve begins—the only one of its kind in the province of Seville.
Along the Greenway, you’ll see the Martinete Waterfalls, a Natural Monument, and the source of the Hueznar River. You’ll pass through San Nicolás del Puerto, where you can visit the Roman bridge over the river, and at the end of the route, enjoy the karst mountains of the Second Natural Monument, the Cerro del Hierro—an ancient coral reef (450 million years old)—which is the largest natural monument in Andalusia and the most visited.
