Cottage at Artist's Remote Nevada Ranch Oasis With Pool
Spectacular 320 acre isolated cattle ranch, no neighbors, total solitude, awesome panoramas: lush meadows, snow-capped peaks to W, rimrock buttes/tablelands to E, exuberant sunsets, 80F spring-fed swimming pool, parklike lawn/trees, owned by accomplished working artist. Hike in any direction, fantastic wild hot-springs 1/2 hr away. Ideal for de-stressing, de-programing, relaxing, being creative, getting in touch w Nature (& your true nature...)(Closed Dec -- March, for winter, open April I.) Enjoy vast vistas, immense skies, and solitude at the historic Long Ranch, in Surprise the pavement ends and The Mystery begins. This small working ranch encompasses 320 acres of high desert ranchland on the far NE edge of California, just over the Nevada border. High rimrock tablelands of the Hays Range, towering peaks of the Warner Mts, springfed pastures and desert sand dunes are your welcoming views from a private rustic cabin. This cabin has off-grid electricity for lighting and internet, and good water which flows from a natural warm (80 degree) spring up the mountain. Shade trees and lawn surround a beautiful warm-spring pool for your enjoyment. Wander the ranch grounds, sit on an old corral fence, hike the nearby canyons and mesas of the Hayes Range or across the valley up into The Warner Wilderness, seek out the local wild hot springs, or just relax, absorb the magic, and have an epiphany or two... Bathhouse, swimming pool and surrounding lawn, adjacent corrals and most of property are open for guest access. (The pasture is usually hosting 80 head of cattle, so visiting w them is possible, though not recommended...). The old ranch house, the new studio, the workshop, storage sheds, and ranch equipment and any posted areas are not open for guest incursions w/o invite... I'm available for help/advice/info, if needed... (if I'm not around, a family I'm partnering with will be here to assist.) Also I might be available for inspiration/painting critiques/sympathy/praise/badinage, when appropriate . Possibly available for plein-air painting lessons, if in the mood... The internet usually works, kind of slow tho. Cell phones maybe -- Verizon is best carrier, others not so good to non-existent service... IMPORTANT: Please don't bring/use any electric devices that use/produce heat -- toaster, coffee/espresso maker, tea kettle, elect pad or blanket, hair dryer, heater -- my electric system will not handle the extra load! Don't get stuck out here w/o gas/water. Don't drive too fast on the dirt roads ( too fast is over 45-50). Watch what you're doing, where you're walking. Try not to do anything too stupid -- it's a long way to town. Be very cautious w fire. (That includes not smoking cigarets, inside or outside....) To ranch is really remote , off-grid, NOT your typical corporate Ritz-Carleton "Western" dude ranch "experience".... solitude, plenty of dust, various types of free-range organic wild critters in wild country, not always too close to safety (similar to hiking/camping in wilderness, except you hopefully still have access to your vehicle, not to mention a swimming pool, electricity, a fully operable kitchen, internet usually, etc, etc....) The neighborhood is totally devoid of humans (present company excepted..) Lots of mountains, trees, grass, sage, rabbits, coyotes, birds, Long Ranch is 17 miles east of Cedarville, California, on Cty Rd 37, accessed by Hwy 299 (paved) for seven miles and ten miles on a well maintained gravel road. A vehicle is required to reach the property. No public transportation is available. A small airfield is located near Cedarville....
