The Space:

This charming adobe casita studio sleeps 2 with a wood stove, private patio, walk in rock shower for 2, queen bed fitted with a low voltage high end heated mattress pad for added luxury. Stocked kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, olive oil, vinegar, spices, tea coffee. Located on the property of one of the villages' oldest historic homes, nestled at the foothills of the Cerrillos Hills State Park overlooking the village of Los Cerrillos. Once the Capital of New Mexico, now an amazing time capsule of Western History. An oasis in the desert. Sit under one of many shaded patios or our fruit orchard and listen to birds and owls.

Walk to dining and shopping, activities and massage. 360 degree views of mountains and the Galisteo River Basin. This 1884 adobe Casita is quiet with natural lighting perfect for working or relaxing. Organic high thread count linens and towels, natural cleaners and sustainable practices. We do Not implement ANY pesticides, if you are intimated by the songs of crickets, this may not be the space for you. Eclectic decorations including antiques from the original homestead and beautiful art. Located 16 miles outside of Santa Fe and 3 miles to Madrid. Perfectly situated between Albuquerque and Santa Fe on the Turquoise Trail, wonderful for skiers, mountain biking, hiking, horse back riders (outfitter walking distance) and tourists alike. Solitude for the quiet types. We offer Wifi, but don't expect cell service unless you are on wifi calling- there is no TV just the view and the stars- you wanted a vacation! Enjoy the milky way from the hot tub while the coyotes and big horn owls serenade the night sky. We are not responsible for hot tub not working due to cleaning or appliance issues during your stay, no discounts will be given. This adobe, rock building does not have AC, but is designed to stay cool with its 18 inch thick adobe walls by opening the windows at 9 pm and closing them at 9 am, it will maintain a lovely temp on its own. We welcome 1 dog under 35 pounds only per stay upon approval, $35 per reservation. Pets cannot be left unattended and are not allowed on the bed or couch, we suggest you travel with a clean blanket for covering our furniture as an alternative. A $200 fee will be charged for all dogs left behind barking, or excessive hair on the bed and couch. Your dog needs to be leashed outside on the property at all times out of respect for other guests, and your hosts. You must curb your dog. If you want to run them, walk out our driveway in any direction. You can contact Rover for pet sitting services while touring the sites. Most local restaurants are dog friendly.

Our in room Host Bar can based on availability offer a selection of local goodies and priced accordingly for products and events.

We are cannabis friendly and allow smoking anywhere outside, not near another window or inside. A $200 fee will be charged for smoking inside including vapes. Please extinguish butts in water and throw away.

Please be water conscious, all our grey lines feed the trees, and wildlife - we only use earth friendly product and appreciate your doing the same.

Guest Access:

This is a detached Casita with a private porch with a dining table, rocker and summer foraging garden. There is a second unit behind, that we built with an additional hospitality wall on top of the original adobe wall to block noise and vibration between the spaces, they do not face each other or impede the tranquility of either unit. Parking for 1 car in the parking area, look for Guest Parking 1 sign, it is the closest space to the casita. Please message for additional parking instructions if you are towing a trailer or are driving a large vehicle.

Access to BBQ. Relax in any of the patios, hot tub 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please note we cannot be held liable for inconsistencies in hot tub use due to power outages or guest's improper use of hot tub.



The Neighborhood:

While most travelers find Santa Fe enchanting, commercialism is obvious. Cerrillos and Madrid 13 miles SE of Santa Fe, continue to offer a real New Mexico experience, artists living and working in their studios, cowboys riding and hitching up outside of restaurants, unique pioneer characters.

Step back in time to this historic territorial village of Los Cerrillos where Young Guns, Vampires and Dark Winds were and continue to be filmed. This quiet and friendly neighborhood is walkable and has a restaurant (The Black Bird Saloon) open Thurs - Sunday (check hours online) and shopping at The Cerrillos Station Thurs - Sun, and a mining museum that are all walking distance to the carriage house for fabulous gifts and sunset charcuterie supplies, farmers market or local music. The views are spectacular here find your sunset or sunrise and enjoy the sounds of birds, owls and coyotes. Hike, bike or horseback ride (Turquoise Trail Horse Back Riding) in the 3000 acre Cerrillos Hills State Park behind our home or just enjoy a walk down the Galisteo River. Our home looks onto the village and stunning views. Or if you're looking for nightlife Madrid is just 4 miles South with live music and patio dining 7 nights a week as well as seasonal parades and special events. Beer Creek Brewery is 8 miles North with a lovely patio for pizza, and Santa Fe Brewery is located 12 miles north with dining and incredible music throughout the year (check their calendar).

Every Thursday there is a farmers market in Cerrillos at the Cerrillos Station with local goodies and live music from 4-6 or whenever the music stops. Santa Fe is 14 miles, 35 minutes to The Plaza and 1 hour to the Santa Fe Mountain ski lift. 1 hour to Albuquerque airport.



Getting Around:

You will need a rental car, or bring your horse or rent one Turquoise Trail Horse Back Riding is walkable from the Casita. Walkable to Black Bird Saloon, and Cerrillos Station gift shop, and the Cerrillos Mining Museum.



Other Things to Note:

The main house and casita were built in 1884, although they have been remodeled, we ask that paper products are disposed of in the trash can versus the 1/2 gallon flush toilet, there is signage as a reminder we do not line the trash bin with plastic, but we sanitize the bin between every guest to help save the environment. Our sinks and showers feed the trees and birds, so we thank you for using our environmentally friendly body products and cleaners. Thanks for choosing a sustainably minded lodging. We do not charge a cleaning fee, to avoid a 50$ fee, all guests are required to wash their dishes and tidy up before check out. We strive to create a restful retreat for our guests full of love and creativity, enjoy! Your Pet must be approved prior to booking, $35/stay. Pets cannot be left alone. A $200 fee will be charged for all dogs left behind, barking or excessive hair on the bed or couch. We suggest you travel with a large clean blanket as a work around. Your dog must be on a leash outside at all times out of respect of your host and our other guests and the wildlife we curate. Contact Rover for pet sitting. Most restaurants w patios are dog friendly. There are no firearms allowed on the property or in any of our units. If you are traveling with firearms, they must be locked in your car or truck. Interaction with Guests:

Your host is available to greet you and walk you through the property if you wish, but the space is set up for easy check in if you read the check in instructions. Check in is after 3 pm, if you arrive late, no worries the door will be open for you and the lights will be on, just give us a heads up so we can set it up for you. Your host is available to respond to texts until 8 pm usually. For emergencies you can knock on the front door of the main house.

A foraging garden has been planted for you on the private patio to enjoy in the summer. There is also an in room host bar(based on availability) w/ locally made amazing goodies and events. There are many shady patios and private areas to enjoy, please make yourselves at home. We have a small dog, Mr. Darcy that is very friendly and anxious to greet guests. 1 Pet per stay is welcome w/approval $35/stay. Please let us know if your pet is unsocialized. All pets must be kept on a leash at all times out of respect for our other guests and your host. You must curb your dog. No pets on the bed or sofa, we suggest you travel with a clean large blanket to cover the furniture as a work around. Your pet cannot be left in the casita while you are out for the day. A $200 fee will be applied to any dog left barking alone, or excessive hair left behind.
