Very nice hotel, friendly staff, great location. The only, relatively minor, issues were a noisy A/C system and fluctuating temperature of the hot water coming out of the shower head.

Property needs improvement

The hotel definitely has good potential. The history, architecture and location add charm and character to this hotel, however, the rooms are very dated, including the tiny bathrooms. We reserved two rooms, one of them smelled of mold/old house and two from our party couldn’t sleep well due to strong odor. Definitely not a four star experience.

This is an excellent property just a few minutes walk to the College of Charleston, Fort Sumter, the historic district and King Street! The hotel is classic “old school” with a very nice champagne and hors d’oerves reception the Saturday afternoon we arrived. No need for a car for the 3 days in Charleston then rented one for two days visiting the plantations and Cypress Gardens (a must see!). We loved Charleston!

Wonderful staff, clean and quiet hotel. A complimentary champagne hour with charcuterie and a lovely pianist. Perfect location with a charming aesthetic. Would stay here again!!
