Great place to stay if you need to be close but not too close to the town centre. The room was very spacious and had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower, hot and powerful. We asked for alternative milk which was supplied in the breakfast room. If you want to be close to the centre (5 mins walk) then i would recommend the Portland Guest House

Conveniently located for the town centre and the parking permit was helpful to enable on street parking within 10 minute walk to the guesthouse. The bedroom was basic and not modernised, the bed was comfy and we appreciated the tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast is included but is a very light breakfast. Notice on the wall stated ‘cooked breakfast when available’ which we didn’t understand. Guests helped themselves at breakfast to toast, crumpets, cereal and apples. Not enough choice for us personally. Information pre check in was clear and helpful.

The breakfast menu was fresh and there were enough choices for someone to eat. We were in one of the basement rooms and found it dark. Work was being done on the outside of the building, so lots of scaffolding which blocked a lot of the light. The bed we had was not very comfortable but we did like how quiet it was.

Love the Portland Guest House, fantastic location for wide choice of restaurants in the town. The place is always spotless and the staff are so friendly. Entry is now via key box system and breakfast has moved over to Continental only. This still offers a good choice of food and drinks. Defo recommend the place.
