Not as it Used To Be

Last I was at this hotel and Suanbo was 1987. The hotel has not been upgraded since then. Originally the Hot Springs was the attraction. Community Hot Springs were available. Now they only offer separate Hot Springs for Male and Female. In town there is a Hot Spring foot bath. Not as fun as it used to be. The Hotel Staff were excellent though.

What a great 😃 place to enjoy hot springs ♨️. Wonderful place in the mountains so quiet and peaceful. Perfect place to be away from the big cities. Recommended highly!

Didn’t use their outdoor hotspring this time. Will definitely go back next time for that. Quite and loved their large room with small table and two chairs for breakfast tea.

Might be better during ski season

Hotel was difficult to find; it took us 3 tries w/ different GPS apps. Immediate area gives off a severe "sleepy town" vibe. Maybe this place bustles during winter months; I noticed some ski lifts as we drove around. But in mid-summer? Not so much. There's nothing around the hotel, unless you walk allllll the way down its steep, winding drive. And maybe you will & maybe you'll enjoy exploring the few streets & restaurants (& maybe they'll be open). But then you'll have to walk allll the way back up. That won't be fun. There's a restaurant in the hotel; prices seem reasonable. The "spa" is traditional Asian bathhouse. Despite "massage" on the website, that's NOT an option; no spa services other than hot spring-style baths, split by gender. The staff was friendly, but spoke no English, despite advertising Eng/Kor on the website. The hotel hallway carpet should've been replaced a decade or more ago. But, if this place is as popular in winter as I'm guessing, then excessive snow damage WOULD account for the carpet's wear&tear. The room lock is digital & new. Room has a shoe foyer & you step up into the room. The A/C didn't work. Despite advertising "English", nothing in room had an English manual. We both LIVE in Korea & we couldn't make the TV turn on. The beds were FIRM. FIRM. The room & beds were clean. There were summertime bugs in the bathroom (not roaches, just flying bugs from the windows being open). This place offers hotel-level pricing & motel-quality.

Hot spring which was advertised as part of the hotel, but was charged as extra. The restaurant with friendly service and good food. The room was not worth the price we paid.

신축 호텔의 느낌은 아니라 어떤곳일까 하며 갔는데 너무 좋은 곳이었어요. 오래도록 유지해온 숙박시설의 느낌이 좋습니다. 깨끗하고 군더더기 없는 인테리어들이 오히려 좋았습니다. 연차가 있는 직원분들의 친절한 응대도 인상깊었습니다. 호텔과 함께 나이들어가는 직원이 있는 호텔같아서 더 마음이 갔습니다. 방은 탁트인 뷰, 정말 뜨끈한 온돌만으로도만족스럽습니다. 여기서 묵어보니 호텔방에 인테리어나 소품이나 이런것들 보다 본질의 깔끔함이랑 깨끗함 그런 분위기가 참 중요하구나 싶었고 만족했습니다. 온천이 진짜 좋아요. 탕이 크고 탕에 유리창으로 밖을 볼수 있다는것 + 노천 온천탕이 좋았습니다. 직원분께서 때때로 탕을 다니시며 물 온도 체크해서 뜨끈하게 해주시는게 좋았습니다. 식당은 정갈한 메뉴랑 집밥의 맛이라 좋았습니다. 다른 후기보면 한국도자기를 살수있다고 되어있던데 도자기 그릇을 구경하는 것도 재미있었습니다. 도자기를 구경하고 예쁜 도자기 그릇을 사서 오는 것까지 여행의 즐거움이 있었습니다.

객실상태: 전반적으로 청결하지만, 초인종안되고 철문 닫히는소리 시끄럽고 화장실 천장 등등 많이 낡음. 온천: 노천탕 조용하고 물이 좋다고 느꼈으나, 평일무료로 알고 왔는데, 금요일은 주말이라고 약간 우기는듯 얘기하심. (그럼 일요일은 평일인가) 논란여지가없도록 입구 요금표에 요일을 명기해두던가 했으면 함. 편의점이라고 써있는곳이 있으나 없다고 보는게 맞음.

객실 깨끗했고 침구도 괜찮았습니다. 평일엔 오후 3시 체크아웃, 무제한 온천 사용이 좋았습니다. 노천탕이 이 호텔 선택의 가장 큰 이유였는데, 여자 노천탕의 경우 광고 사진에서 본 것처럼 좋지는 않아서 아쉬웠습니다(크고 둥근 형태 아님). 주변에 다닐 곳이 없으므로(특히 너무 추웠음) 휴식이 목적인 여행에 적합합니다. 1층 식당의 석식이 깔끔하고 맛있었습니다
