Byre Cottage, a Lake District cottage on a working farm
Byre Cottage is a cosy and characterful cottage set on a traditional Lakeland hill farm overlooking the beautiful Woodland Valley.
The cottage is just 10 minutes' drive from Coniston village which is teeming with friendly pubs and local shops. Lovingly reconstructed from the original 17th century byre, the Byre Cottage offers cosy yet comfortable rooms with rustic exposed beams, log fires and countryside views.
Access to the cottage is gained through the main farmyard, dotted with blossoming flowers during the spring & summer months. The farmyard, whilst quiet in nature, is home to a family of hens, ducks, a cockerel, farm cats & working dogs. Sheep and cattle also graze in the fields nearby.
The Byre Cottage is perfect for those looking to experience a glimpse of traditional Lakeland life. Sleeping 6 guests comfortably, the cottage can also be booked alongside neighbouring Millers Cottage which together can accommodate up to 12 guests. A great base for families, outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and those wishing to simply switch off from the busy day-to-day.
Ground Floor Traditional Lakeland porch opens into entrance hall, from here guests can access the cosy cottage sitting & dining room complete with Lakeland stone fireplace, Tv, Dvd & Cd player. French windows open from the sitting room to the rear paved garden, offering panoramic views over the Woodland valley.
Just off the sitting room is the kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, fridge/freezer & washer/dryer.
There is also a small shower room with WC on the ground floor.
The yard to the front of the cottage is perfectly positioned to catch the midday and evening sun, from here you are welcome to sit, relax & simply watch the world go by.
