Hilltop Village Lovely House with Private Pool near Bagni di Lucca and Barga

The house lies at the border of Garfagnana above the valley of the river Fegana, one of the most beautiful valleys of the whole region, marked by an unspoilt landscape and spectacular views onto the mountains Apenine and Apuan Alps.
The area boast impressive places for example Orrido di Botri, a canyon with wild cliffs and rocks or the cave Grotta del Vento with its stalactites, stalagmites and underground watercourses. The whole area has a lot to offer to visitors. Nature lovers may go for walks or take hiking tours, sport lovers may choose among horse back riding, rafting, canoeing and fishing. In Autumn, it may be fun to take a walk to search of chestnuts and mushrooms. The charming town of Barga, Castelvecchio Pascoli the Spa town of Bagni di Lucca are also a must for visitors to the region. Lucca with its medieval walls is a short drive away and Pisa, Firenze, Siena and the wine lands of Chianti may all be visited in 1 day trip.

The house is in a prominent position on the top edge of the village, free on 3 sides and built on the back to another house. The house has a lovely garden (about 200sqm) with an outdoor area fully equipped with portable charcoal barbecue, sink in stone, sun umbrella, table and chairs for dining alfresco, a beautiful terrace with garden furniture where you may sunbath after a refreshing dive into the gorgeous saltwater pool (private) completely set in the earth (7,20 m x 3,70m depth 1,30), and from where you can enjoy spectacular views over the mountains. The pool area is also equipped with warm shower.

Changeover day is Saturday, with some flexibility in low season. In high season the house is rented weekly.

The house has a private parking and is reached within two roads, asphalted but with some gaps that I can pass through carefully with a jeep car. However, if you have a larger vehicle you may park it in a nearby parking area around 10 minutes walk from the property - in this case I can help you by bringing your luggage to and from the house.

Paradise in the mountains.

A beautiful location. The house had everything you could possibly want. The outdoor space was picture perfect and the pool very welcome on such hot days. The property is remote and not for the faint hearted to drive but so worth it.

A little slice of heaven

Lauraā€™s property is truly amazing. The pictures donā€™t do it justice. The views are spectacular and the pool and garden the perfect place to relax. The house was perfectly clean and has everything you need. Vitiana is a picture perfect Italian mountain village with lots of little alleys to explore. You do need to plan a little bit and buy enough food for a few days if you donā€™t want to drive down the mountain every day to go to the stores. But bread, meat, eggs, and cheese are available at the neighborā€™s. We had a really great time and it was the perfect mix of relaxing away from it all and taking trips to sights in the area. Laura is a great host and very attentive yet discreet. Thank you very much, Laura!!

Ferienhaus in wunderschƶner Umgebung

Der Aufenthalt in Lauras Haus war fĆ¼r uns die pure Erholung. Eine wirklich schƶne Umgebung, herzliche Nachbarn und Einwohner Vitianas sowie eine supernette Gastgeberin haben den Urlaub perfekt gemacht. Die Aussicht vom Haus und dem Garten aus in die umliegende Berglandschaft ist wirklich traumhaft schƶn und lieƟ uns den hektischen Alltag, den wir als Stadtmenschen sonst gewohnt sind, sofort vergessen. Der Pool, der zur alleinigen Nutzung zur VerfĆ¼gung steht, bietet besonders an heiƟen Tagen eine tolle Mƶglichkeit sich abzukĆ¼hlen und auf der dazugehƶrigen Terrasse zu entspannen. Es gibt reichlich Sitzmƶglichkeiten, sowohl im Garten als auch vor dem Haus. Auch ein Grill steht zur VerfĆ¼gung. Das Haus ist groƟ (3 Etagen plus Keller) und gemĆ¼tlich, im antiken Stil, mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Alles war sauber und gepflegt. Wir haben uns direkt wohlgefĆ¼hlt. Die Ausstattung ist auf einem sehr hohen Level und es fehlte uns an nichts. Bei der Ankunft stellte Laura auƟerdem verschiedene Lebensmittel wie Olivenƶl, GewĆ¼rze, Pasta, Wein, Brot, Kaffee und Milch bereit. Von Vitiana aus sind viele Ziele fĆ¼r (Tages) AusflĆ¼ge innerhalb von 20 Minuten bis ca. 1 1/2 Stunden mit dem Auto erreichbar, so dass man sich den Urlaub sehr abwechslungsreich gestalten kann. Von Wandern/Outdoor AktivitƤten Ć¼ber AusflĆ¼ge in die umliegenden mittelalterlichen Bergdƶrfer oder einen Tag am Strand, bis hin zu einem Besuch der StƤdte Pisa, Lucca oder Florenz ist von Vitiana aus alles gut erreichbar. Abends lƤsst sich der Tag dann wunderbar im Garten mit Blick in die schƶne Berglandschaft ausklingen. Die Unterkunft ist zudem sehr hundefreundlich! Das GrundstĆ¼ck ist eingezƤunt und unser Vierbeiner konnte sich jederzeit frei bewegen. Auch die Begegnungen bei unseren SpaziergƤngen mit den charmanten Dorfhunden werden uns positiv in Erinnerung bleiben :) Wir empfehlen Lauras Unterkunft weiter! Insbesondere diejenigen, die auf eine Unterkunft in einer authentischen Umgebung, abseits der Touristen-Hotspots wert legen, die zudem in eine sehenswerte und weitgehend unberĆ¼hrte Natur eingebettet ist, werden hier definitiv auf ihre Kosten kommen.

Charming and comfortable mountain village house

Everything was perfect. Laura, the house owner, was lovely and very helpful. The house has been lovingly restored and furnished by Laura in the typical mountain style and is very quaint and comfortable. It is much bigger than the details suggest. It is on 3 floors. There are 2 living rooms; one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Both have dining tables and open fireplaces. There are 3 double bedrooms; one has double aspect windows, one has a single aspect window and the third bedroom is huge with an extra large double bed with 3 windows offering double aspect. The two doubles share a shower room and the third bedroom is at the top of the house with its own shower room. Both shower rooms have new looking, white suites. The kitchen has a 4 ring gas hob, a centre hot plate and a large oven, a stone sink, dishwasher, and fridge freezer. Every window in the property has a stunningly, beautiful view of the Apennine Mountains and each has a mosquito screen. There is a washing machine in the basement room. The swimming pool is large and the garden delightful (and fully, securely fenced) with plenty of garden furniture and sun loungers. There is private parking for 3 or 4 cars. The village is very quiet and quaint with a bar that opens some nights around 8pm. One evening there was a village talent competition which had a lovely, community feel and the bar was selling donuts too. The shop is hidden in the house next door to the holiday home, but if you ring their doorbell and the owners are in, there is a large choice of cheeses and meats. The lanes up to Vitiana are twisting and narrow, but we didnā€™t find it difficult. We didnā€™t have a problem driving our Nissan Qashqai through the very narrow points into the village either. It all added to the idyllic charm of this mountain top village. We visited Lucca, the Cinque Terre, Florence, Barga, Pisa, Forte dei Marmi, Lago Puccini and many mountain top villages - all absolutely stunning. We would highly recommend this holiday home.

Peaceful with lovely views

We very much enjoyed our stay at Laura's lovely house. The location is perfect if you're looking for peace, quiet and the local Italian experience. The pool and patio are fantastic additions to the property and the house itself is very well kept and retains the original feel. Laura is a wonderful host and will make you feel very much at home.

Villa life in quiet village, such views!

Some places are worth the effort it takes to get there. This is true of Vitiana and this lovely house. Owner Laura is very responsive and friendly, answered all my questions promptly, and was there to greet us with fresh bread, wine, and other goodies, just in case we had not realized how remote the quaint village is. Her directions (that you'll receive upon confirmation) are very thorough and easy to follow, although the village and house itself are well off the tourist track. A big plus, but something to understand in your travels there. The house is spacious and beautiful and has all that you could want for a restful country stay. The neighbors are friendly, despite our lack of language skills, and on our arrival day, two of the neighborhood dogs literally led us around the village to show us around--charming! We did not need a grocery store, as we had supplied ourselves before arrival, but there is nothing commercial in this village, except the bar, which we did not visit. There are stores on the quick (but through the "bottleneck") drive to neighboring Fornali, and Lucca is less than 45 minutes away for more shopping if you need it. Lovely space, thanks for a great few days.

wonderful place

We spent a week at this wonderful place. First of all, we all (family with three children aged 7 to 15) really enjoyed it. It started with a warm welcome from Laura, the owner. The house is beautifully situated in the mountain village with views in three directions. Whether with the morning mist, the clear view at midday or the sunset, the view of the surrounding villages and mountains is picturesque. The house itself is lovingly furnished, extends over three floors and the kitchen is perfectly equipped. We were delighted with it. The pool is of course a highlight, which we all enjoyed very much. But lazing on the loungers, reading, eating and playing games on the two terraces was also perfect. There is a lot to experience in the surrounding area (Lucca, canyoning, Orrido di Botri,...) we would have liked to stay longer. There's only one solution: we'll be back!

Ein besonderer Urlaub

Es war fĆ¼r uns ein auƟergewƶhnlich erholsamer Urlaub. Besonders die Lage des Hauses mit Blick auf die Berge hat dazu beigetragen. Es gibt in der Umgebung viel zu entdecken, aber es empfiehlt sich, auch einfach mal im Haus und Garten mit Pool zu bleiben und die Aussicht zu genieƟen. Die Vermieterin Laura ist nett und immer ansprechbar. Das Haus ist sehr alt, aber gemĆ¼tlich; die KĆ¼che ist etwas klein. Anspruchsvoll ist die Anfahrt, aber zu schaffen.

Traum mit Ausblick!

Die ausfĆ¼hrliche und sehr genaue Anfahrtsbeschreibung sollte unbedingt eingehalten werden, auch wenn das Navi behauptet, den Weg zu kennen. Dann wird man schon auf dem letzten Weg durch den wunderschƶnen Wald mit bezaubernden Ausblicken belohnt. Lauras Steinhaus ist einfach ganz wunderbar, der Garten mit viel Liebe angelegt, der Pool herrlich, der Ausblick aus jedem Fenster groƟartig und die vielen Vƶgel veranstalten kostenlose Konzerte. Laura ist sehr sympathisch und hilfsbereit, egal in welcher Situation. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen, auch weil wir Serpentinen lieben šŸ˜‰.

Wunderschƶnes altes Haus in toskanischem Bergdorf

Lauras Haus hat ein "unteres Wohnzimmer" mit Kamin, das wir kaum genutzt haben und einen daran anschlieƟenden Keller mit Waschmaschine. Im ersten Stock eine nette kleine sehr gut ausgestattete KĆ¼che, zwei Schlafzimmer (jeweils mit Doppelbett), ein Bad mit Behelfsdusche und ein weiteres Wohn-Ess-Zimmer mit Kamin. Oben gibt es ein Bad mit Dusche und ein groƟes "Elternschlafzimmer" mit Doppelbett. Das Haus ist alt, hat Ć¼berall offene Holzbalken-Decken, TerracottaflieƟen und Marmorstufen und ist sehr nett mit passenden, gemĆ¼tlichen Mƶbeln eingerichtet. Die Ausstattung ist pragmatisch, aber mehr als ausreichend, Laura hatte fĆ¼r uns sogar eine Grundausstattung an Nahrungsmitteln bereitgestellt - das war auch sehr hilfreich, da es im Ort selbst keinen wirklichen Laden gibt. Der Ort Vitiana ist ein relativ verschlafens Bergdƶrfchen mit engen Gassen, das nur am Wochenende etwas belebter wird. Mit dem Auto zum Haus kommt man wirklich nur, wenn man ein schmales Auto hat - unser Ford C-Max hat schlicht nicht durch die Engstelle gepasst; Laura hat aber netterweise ihren Mann geschickt, der und um Haus hochgefahren hat - das sind etwa 350-400 Meter durch das Dƶrfchen. Der Pool kam bei den Kindern hervorragend an, die Terasse und der Grill haben das ganze super abgerundet. Sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man einen etwas ruhigeren Urlaub in der Toskana verbringen will und trotzdem in ~1 h in Pisa, Lucca und ~1.5h in Florenz sein will.

Laura est une hĆ“te adorable, attentive et chaleureuse. Nous sommes accueillis avec un frigo dĆ©jĆ  garni pour le premier soir. Une bouteille de bulles et du pain vous attendent Ć©galement. Seul bĆ©mol, le passage Ć  l'Ć©ntrĆ©e du village qui est Ć©troit (vive les petites voitures). MalgrĆ© une tempĆ©rature printaniĆØre assez fraiche (4 mai au 11 mai), nous avons pu profiter de la terrasse Ć  dĆ©faut de la piscine. Endroit idĆ©al pour allier visites culturelles et activitĆ©s nature. Merci Laura

Toskana-Idyll

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt in diesem ausgesprochen schƶnen Quartier in einem idyllischen toskanischen Bergdƶrfchen. Herrlich gelegen mit traumhaftem Blick in die Berge und Ortschaften direkt von der Terrasse. Hier kann man wunderbar entspannen und sich erholen- sehr schƶner Pool , LiegestĆ¼hle, ein groƟzĆ¼giges Haus mit viel Platz und sehr guter Ausstattung. Kleine Wege und Treppen fĆ¼hren durch den Ort zum Haus, ebenso eine StraƟe. Je nachdem, ob man sich durch die Schmalstelle mit dem Auto traut. Wir haben entschieden, es vor der Engstelle abzustellen und zum Haus zu laufen - ca 5 min. Gastgeberin Laura ist sehr nett, freundlich und hilfsbereit - auch sofort bei Ankunft und Abfahrt mit dem Transport des GepƤcks, wenn man nicht mit dem Auto zum Haus fahren mƶchte. Man kann direkt vom Haus loslaufen und spazieren gehen. Einkauf muss man am besten gut planen oder mit AusflĆ¼gen verbinden, da man ein bisschen braucht, um den Berg runterzufahren. Ein wunderbares Ferienquartier- wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ein kleines Paradies!

Wir hatten sehr entspannte Tage in diesem Ferienhaus. Das Haus ist sehr gerƤumig und liebevoll eingerichtet. Der Pool ist fantastisch! Die Lage auf dem Berg ist wunderschƶn. Man kann herrliche Ausblicke ins Tal, auf den Appenin und die Apuanischen Alpen genieƟen. Bei dem Dorf handelt es sich um ein uraltes und gewachsenes Bergdorf. Alle Einwohner waren sehr nett. Laura, die Vermieterin, war immer ansprechbar bei Fragen und in jeder Hinsicht hilfsbereit. Absolute Empfehlung fĆ¼r alle, die die Ruhe genieƟen mƶchten!!!!

Laura war eine groƟartige Gastgeberin, einfach perfekt.

Das Objekt liegt einfach himmlisch, der Ausblick ist atemberaubend und so wie man sich die Toskana vorstellt. Das Haus ist ebenfalls im toskanischen Stil gehalten, wir fanden es grandios. Der Pool war noch ein weiteres Highlight.

Great place for family vacation

We have enjoyed our time in this rustic house with enough rooms for a big family and exclusive use of a very nice pool. Both house and pool are well maintained and so we spent quite some time around the pool and also exploring the region. Vitiana is quite remote, which we enjoyed very much. The view is magnificent and nature is great. We had a great vacation at Vitiana. The region has a lot to offer, we visited numerous fascinating villages and towns and also found some really great restaurants near to the village of Vitiana. Laura was a great host. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your charming house in Vitiana.

One of the best places ever

Very friendly host, great house, wonderful pool, beautiful setting with stunning views. Better stay 2 weeks than 1, and recharge your batteries to the max.

Wunderschƶn

Laura ist ein hilfsbereite Vermieterin (mit guten Englisch). Sie hat das Haus mit viel Charme eingerichtet... die antiken Mƶbel passen einfach zu dem mittelalterlichen Haus. Der Pool und die Terrasse sind der Hammer... noch schƶner als ich es mir von den Bildern im Netz vorgestellt habe. Das vielleicht beste ist der tolle Ausblick auf Bewaldete HĆ¼gel und Berge... und das nicht nur von der Terasse sondern auch aus jedem Fenster :).... Das hat allerdings auch seinen Preis die letzten Kilometer nach Vitiana sind abenteuerlich. Da wir ein sehr dickes Auto haben (2,20 breite) haben wir uns nicht durch das Stadttor getraut... und mussten/durften die letzten Hƶhenmeter durch das schƶne StƤdtchen erklimmen... (knapp 10 min)

Very nice stay

We had an amazing stay at this house. Beautiful surroundings, nice pool area, and the house itself was very good. The owner of the house, Laura, is really sweet, and helpfull if needed. I can definitely recommend this house to others.

Toskana von einer anderen Art

Wer die lieblichen HĆ¼gel mit Zypressen und Oliven Haine sucht ist an dieser Adresse falsch. Hier begegnet man einer anderen Seite der Toskana und wir kƶnnen sagen es hat uns sehr Ć¼berrascht wie schnell man sich an das Leben in diesem kleinen Bergdorf (550 m. Ć¼. M) gewƶhnen kann und den Luxus des Hauses mit Garten, Pool ,Terasse und herrlichem Ausblick geniessen kann. Dazu noch eine zuvorkommende Gastgeberin und sehr viel Ruhr. Zugegeben die zufahrt zum Haus egal von welcher Seite ist schon ein kleines Abenteuer nicht nur die engen Serpentinen sondern auch die schmalste einfahrt durch die wir je gefahren sind. (Ford Kuga und Passat Kombi) aber mit Seitenspiegel einklappen ist es dann doch gegangen. Das Haus ist Ideal fĆ¼r 4 Personen und auch bei Regen kann man es sich gemĆ¼tlich machen. kurzum wir werden wenn wir kƶnnen gerne wiederkommen. Liebe GrĆ¼ĆŸe an Laura
