Perfect family getaway

We stayed a week at Borgo Vallechie and had a perfect time! We went to celebrate our 65th birthdays (delayed a couple years by Covid) with our 2 adult children, their spouses, and our 2-yr old grandson. We spent so much time at the pool and ate outside every day. The Baldoni family were terrific hosts, gave us a welcome pizza party, and we opted for a cooking class and dinner. The villa was close to Cortona and an easy drive to Montepulciano. Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed being together in this slice of paradise.

Borgo Valecchie July 2023

What wonderful stay!.. at a little piece of heaven. Pictures didn't do the villa justice. We've been to Italy 10 or so times and are very knowledge about all the regions and have travelled extensively throughout and this was maybe the best trip of them all. Our host Davide went above and beyond to help when needed and it was so nice to have the owners next store to the villa. He is passionate and very knowledgeable about the Tuscany region. A great guy. Enjoyed our first night pizza and wine party which the owners hosted after a long travel day. Our very private pool and property were magnificent and a joy to spend time at during the hot days when we weren't taking day trips.. The AC in the bedrooms were a great relief after very hot day trips and evenings. Chiara cooked a wonderful dinner one of the nights outside al fresco style... we loved it. Highly recommend. Lunch in the poolside cabana was a special treat. Location is a 10 minute drive to Cortona, a beautiful hillside town which had many great restaurants. We'll be back. Miss it already. MG

Warm Tuscan Welcome

Our family had a wonderful stay in Borgo Valecchie. The historic house has been lovingly restored and is beautifully situated in the countryside a few kilometers outside of Cortona. The bedrooms were very comfortable and had plenty of space for our luggage and belongings. The pool area was delightful and the grounds were lovely, with spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside. Chiara arranged for a warm welcome by her father Lorenzo. We had a fabulous dinner with the family, prepared by Mama Sara - amazing pizza! - and we arranged to have dinner prepared for us in the house - one of the best meals of our entire vacation! The whole Baldoni family was genuinely friendly and personally invested in making us comfortable and happy. Their superb hospitality made our visit to Tuscany extra special. Gracie mille!

Great Stay

We had a great weeklong stay in earl July. There were five of us (2 adults, 3 children between 6 and 13) and the house was very spacious for a group of that size. The home and the grounds were beautifully maintained and the lovely outdoor spaces and pool area were amazing features to have after spending the days exploring the surrounding area/towns. Chiara and her family live right next door and were always available and welcoming. Be sure to take advantage of the additional services they offer, including home cooked meals, cooking classes, and wine tasting. We very much hope to return!

In LOVE with this place

This property was so amazing! Absolutely gorgeous and I can’t say enough about Chiara. She made the entire booking and stay seamless. The house is set up to accommodate a large family or several couples easily. The dinner with Chiara and family was icing on the cake. Chiara helped organize and recommend everything swim Michelin restaurants, photographer, rental car and even picking up a friend from Rome! I will definitely be returning as I’m already missing this place tremendously. Don’t hesitate to book here for your vacation!

At Home Away From Home

Our stay at Villa Borgo Valecchie was outstanding from start to finish. The villa beautiful, comfortable, and well designed for quiet time and privacy even with larger groups. Most importantly, Chiara, Davide and the whole family made us feel incredibly welcome, and were always on hand to offer assistance when needed. The grounds of the home are particularly beautiful and lovingly cared for, perfect to enjoy in the spring and summer months. A 10 minute drive takes you to excellent grocery stores and the beautiful hilltop village of Cortona, where there are countless excellent restaurants. The location also makes day trips to towns like Siena, Florence and Perugia very manageable. We hope to return to the villa as soon as we can! Can't recommend enough.

A memorable experience with a special family

Our stay was beautiful and memorable. The beauty of the property is surpassed only by the care and love of the Baldoni family, and we are grateful for the kindness that they shared with us. Simply the best of all the Tuscan Villas available

Borgo Valecchie is simply a TEN-STAR experience. It's a gorgeously restored Renaissance villa with original frescoes, fantastic rural views, yet with all the modern comforts too, including air conditioning and a fantastic infinity pool and spa. It's near the best that Tuscany has to offer - wonderful medieval and renaissance art, gorgeous Italian hill villages (Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Arezzo, Sienna, Sansepolcro) and superb wine and food. But what makes this place really special is the Baldoni's love and respect for their culture and their land, and their care for their guests, making it possible for guests to pick fresh tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, figs, lemons and herbs grown in the villa's garden, to experience the best olive oil ever, to have authentic Tuscan dinners cooked to a fabulously high standard by Chiara Baldoni, to sample wood-fired home made pizza made by Sarah, and to have the opportunity to book fantastic wine tours and tastings conducted by professional sommelier Davide Baldoni, (tuscanwinesomm). As a large family group stretching three generations (from 6 years to 75 years old) we had the best holiday ever - even better than our first holiday at Borgo Valecchie! Thank you Lorenzo!

Beautiful Tuscan Villa

We were lucky enough to spend 4 perfect weeks at the beautiful Borgo Valecchie. This historic 17th century villa has been beautifully restored and renovated into the amazing vacation property it is today. We had different groups of family and friends visiting us each week (the house can accommodate up to 10 people), and everyone was comfortable and had the privacy they needed. The pool was crystal clear and so refreshing, a great place to relax on a hot day. There are fruit trees all over the property, including lemon, lime and plum, that we were encouraged to help ourselves from. As beautiful and comfortable as the house and property are, what makes it truly special are the owners - the wonderful Baldoni family, who made us feel so welcome right from the very beginning. They invited us to their home for a couple of delicious dinners, one of which was Sara’s amazing pizzas, cooked in their outdoor brick oven - perfection! Lorenzo shared his homemade wine and grappa and lots of great stories. We really enjoyed the wine tours with their son, Davide, who is a sommelier and so knowledgeable about his beloved Tuscany. He helped us to choose cases of some delicious Chianti, Brunello and Syrah to ship home. Lorenzo and Sara’s daughter, Chiara, cooked and served a couple of amazingly delicious dinners for us at the villa, including on my husband’s 65th birthday, which she made a mouthwatering cake for. Chiara also did a pasta making class at the villa, for our group of 9 people, in which we made tagliatelle and ravioli - so delicious and so much fun!! Davide and Chiara’s younger sister is also very friendly, and a very smart and sweet girl. We were so sad to leave this beautiful place and this lovely family and can’t wait to return soon. I wish I could give more than 5 stars - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

One of the best!

Our family had an incredible and memorable stay, wish we could give 6 stars! The house was perfect for our family of 4 adults and 2 children – sparkling clean upon arrival, spacious, peaceful and an added bonus having A/C in the bedrooms. The outdoor areas of the property are just stunning and we so enjoyed the beautiful infinity pool, lush gardens and al fresco dining areas. It’s clear that the owners maintain the property to the highest standard and were extremely hospitable and helpful to us throughout our stay. They even hosted us for a homemade pizza dinner at their house which was delicious and made us feel so welcome. Another great feature of the house is the proximity to Cortona (which we loved for restaurants, shopping and sightseeing), and other beautiful towns like Arezzo, Montepulciano, Pienza, Perugia, etc. The house is secluded, quiet and peaceful but we never felt isolated – there are so many convenient amenities and lovely towns nearby. We wholeheartedly recommend this property and hope to return! Thank you to the Baldoni family for a truly unforgettable stay.

A very warm welcome

We had a fabulous holiday. The villa had everything we could possibly need, and the garden was beautiful too, with plenty of shaded sitting areas. The Baldoni family made us feel very welcome and were always available to help with any questions. Our daughters loved cooking local dishes with Chiara, and we all enjoyed a wonderful pizza evening with the whole family. A little piece of heaven!

Perfection in Cortona

Pefection means...................perfect location, accomodation, but above all perfect hosts. Davide and his family made this a perfect vacation to remember forever. The photos may show you how beautiful the location, grounds and villa are; but only the words of the guests will reflect how wonderful the experience of a stay at Borgo Valecchie really is. The dinners with Davide and all his family were something very special. The wine tours with Davide were to locations that the typical tourist would never get to experience. This was our 50th wedding anniversary vacation, and the Baldoni family made it one that we will treasure always.

A Piece of Tuscan Heaven

A fantastic family holiday in a beautiful home and hosted by a wonderful family. Cannot wait to return to Cortona

Our extended family of eight came to the villa to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday.  Everything we experienced with the home was far better than we expected.  The pictures do not convey the beauty of the landscape and grounds.  We could not get enough pool time during the scorching hot week we visited. The welcome pizza dinner was the best pizza we had in the two weeks we traveled Italy!  I still need the recipe, Chiara! :)  Not only was the food great, but meeting Lorenzo, Davide, Chiara, Alice, and Sara was the highlight of the meal. We felt right at home in their home. Do not leave without a wine tasting with Davide.  His passion and knowledge renewed our love for sangiovese and taught us so much with a very approachable experience. We will be joining your wine club when it rolls out! Also, be sure to hire Chiara for a dinner at the villa.  She cooked us a wonderful feast for my wife's birthday.  My wife said it was her best birthday dinner ever! Thank you, Baldoni family, for a memorable holiday!

Great stay in Cortona

If we could we would give this property a rating of 10 stars! Lorenzo, Davide, Chiara, Sara, and Alicia are the most gracious hosts we have ever encounter. The property and grounds are everything you want and more. The villa was great with a number of common areas but still privacy for three separate families. Excellent villa; superb scenery and fabulous ambiance; only exceeded by a family host who's pride of ownership of an outstanding property is undeniable If you are seeking a beautiful place with exquisite hosts look no further. Davide and Chiara are very helpful and you never feel you are intruding on them for anything you need. Although is was an exceptionally rainy and overcast time for at least 4 days you do not want to miss out on trips to other towns. Florence was exceptional. Davide is one of the sole reasons you need to stay here! His suggestions for all of the above were spot on. The nearest town Cortona is beautiful with great restaurants, great shopping, etc. Montepulciano was actually our favorite where we bought unusual artwork. The town was simply perfect. Be sure you have the most comfortable shoes for extended and "hilly' walking . If there is difficulty with this BE SURE you have alternative means to transport those who will be challenged. Lastly- Italy is magical- beautiful- delicious- friendly and even inspirational regardless of the weather. And most importantly a family that will make you feel like it is your home. A Week of Unforgetable Charm

Borgo Valdecchi is the ultimate Tuscany experience. The remodeled villa was engineered to modern expectations but retained the charm of the unique area of Italy. Views from the extraordinary Tuscan hillside are fantastic. Every bedroom in the house has breathtaking scenery just steps from your bed. Davide, Lorenzo, Sara, Chiara and family are warm and friendly hosts. The Baldoni family was gracious, generous, and informative about their culture. I hope they have many children in the future. The world needs more like them. There is a washer and dryer on premises, and ancient lemon trees in huge terra-cotta pots decorate the terrace. There is a swimming pool for your use should you stay during the warmer months. The bathroom décor is in the Tuscan style with great water pressure in the showers. For those interested in wine, Davide is an expert host for a variety of interesting wine tours and is a trained sommelier. All in all, an unforgettable experience.
