About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Country charm meets laid-back luxury, where time slows and hairy moos roam

Nestled among the rolling hills of the Huon Valley, just two minutes from the charming township of Cygnet, the Barn is a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect.

Set on 40 peaceful acres, this relaxed country escape invites you to step away from the rush of everyday life and settle into a gentler rhythm — where long lunches, fresh air, and simple moments take centre stage.

At the heart of your stay is our beautifully restored 1935 apple barn, thoughtfully transformed into a warm and welcoming retreat for up to nine guests. Full of character and comfort, the Barn offers four spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms (including a waterfall shower), and a fully equipped kitchen for enjoying the incredible local produce the Huon Valley is known for.

Step outside and you’ll discover our outdoor kitchen — a special place to gather. Start your day with coffee in the fresh country air, or wind down in the evening sharing a meal as the sun sets over the paddocks.

Once a working apple orchard, the land has gently returned to a more natural rhythm. Today, the farm is home to a wild orchard, productive gardens, open paddocks, and a friendly mix of farm animals.

Guests are warmly invited to join our daily afternoon feeding tours — a simple and memorable way to experience farm life up close.

We also craft our own raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and small-batch artisan cider right here on the farm — a true taste of the region.

Take your time wandering the property, watching the light shift across the hills, and keeping an eye out for native wildlife. If you’re lucky, you may even spot our resident platypus in one of the dams.

Explore the Huon Valley
Perfectly located, the Barn is an ideal base to explore the very best of southern Tasmania. Discover nearby beaches and fishing spots (rods available on request), or take a day trip to the Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves, Bruny Island, or the Salamanca Markets.

The region is also renowned for its vineyards, cafes, and restaurants — or visit local farm gates and bring home fresh produce to enjoy in your own kitchen.

Discover Cygnet
Just minutes away, Cygnet is a vibrant country town known for its creative spirit and beautiful setting along Port Cygnet Bay.
Popular with artists and musicians, it offers a mix of galleries, studios, and welcoming cafes. Enjoy a relaxed coffee or lunch at local favourites like the Red Velvet Lounge or the Port Hole Café, or head to the Red Velvet Lounge on Friday evenings for live music and delicious food.

Cygnet also has a bakery, supermarkets, butcher, and fresh produce store, along with local pubs for an easy meal.

On the first and third Sunday of each month, the farmers market (10am–3pm) is a lovely way to experience the region’s produce and community.

For a peaceful outing, Burton’s Reserve by the water is perfect for a picnic, stroll, or time with the kids.

The Barn
Sleeps up to 9 guests
4 spacious bedrooms (2 king rooms, 2 twin king single rooms)
2 bathrooms (including waterfall shower)
Fully equipped kitchen + outdoor kitchen
Electric blankets on all beds
Space for cots or a fold-out bed

A welcome hamper with breakfast provisions is included to help you settle in and start your stay slowly.

This was honestly the best farm stay we have ever experienced in Tasmania. From the moment we arrived, everything felt warm, welcoming and incredibly peaceful. The setting is absolutely beautiful – rolling countryside, fresh air, and the kind of quiet that makes you instantly relax. The farm itself was such a highlight. Our kids absolutely loved meeting the animals, especially Basil the goat, who quickly became the star of the trip. They are still talking about him! Seeing the children so excited and engaged with the animals made the experience really special. The accommodation was spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. There was lots of special touches and attention to detail that we appreciated. Waking up to the views of the apple orchard and the sounds of the farm was magical and such a lovely way to start the day. What really made the stay exceptional though was the hospitality. Yolanda and Matthew were incredibly kind and generous, and you can tell how much care they put into the farm and the experience they create for guests. We left feeling refreshed, happy and already talking about when we can come back. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway and a genuine farm experience in Tasmania, this place is absolutely perfect. Highly, highly recommend!

Absolutely loved our stay at the Barn. The accommodation is super spacious, very comfortable beds and every little personal touch to make it feel like home. Our hosts Yolanda and Malcolm gave us a tour of their lovely farm and it was a real bonus being able to feed the animals each day we were there. Cannot recommend highly enough - we will definitely be back!

Beautiful accommodation in rural setting.

We had a wonderful stay and loved the house. It's so well renovated and thoughtfully designed. It was also so warm and cosy with a real log fire and heating for the chilly mornings. We especially loved the animals and farm tour, thank you so much. The breakfast food and nibbles were greatly appreciated too. You couldn't have done more. :)

Wonderful, Peaceful and comfortable.

The property was everything and more than described and in photos. Jolande and Matthew were incredibly friendly and helpful. The barn had everything you could want. The animals were adorable. There were 2 couples and 1 single adult and we loved everything available to us. This was a most interesting barn, warm and full of wonderful fixtures and furnishings. The beds were so comfortable. We loved the small town of Cygnet too and would highly recommend the area of wineries and apple cider cellar doors.

Tranquility in Cygnet

The Barn is a fabulous place to stay whether you are a party of 2 or 10. It exceeded all expectations, generously equipped kitchen ,funky bathrooms, spacious living room and bedrooms, sun drenched terrace with stunning views across cherry & apple orchards. We made friends with the goats (especially the kid escapee) & hens - no sightings of platypus this time but plenty more to distract you on a stroll to the dams. Cygnet & surrounding area is such a wonderful place to visit - kayaking, wine tasting, Cygnet Bakery, shopping are only a few things we got up to! Highly recommend, we will be back!

A wonderful short family farm stay

Matt and Jo are wonderful and very helpful hosts. The location of the farm was great, only a short drive to Cygnet, 20 mins to Kettering and 10mins to Huonville, and just across the road from Pagan Cider cellar doors (and by the way, we highly recommend their cherry cider... yum!) We have 3 kids, ages 10, 12 and 14. All 3 absolutely enjoyed their stays and time with the animals. And yes, there were heaps of animals to feed and play with. From hairy highland cows (and a very friendly bull), sheep, goats, pigs, gorgeous alpacas, ducks, and fluffy hens. There is also a platypus or two, but we did not get a chance to see it in our stay. would highly recommend the stay to any family with kids who love animals. we'll definitely try to make it back next time we are in Tassie.
