Les Lauriers Blancs - DAMEREY
Isabelle & Alain open the doors of a charming authentic traditional Bresse farmhouse, very carefully restored, nestled on the edge of fields in the heart of a residential hamlet on the outskirts of the small typical village of Damerey known for housing the very unusual "Bresse-Castille" castle (located a stone's throw from the gîte), a "fairytale" residence mixing Castilian and local architecture, adorned with sculptures of animals of all kinds (a major French "outsider art" work classified as a Historical Monument). In the heart of the unspoiled countryside, on the border of the Chalonnais and Bresse regions of Burgundy, lies a peaceful landscape blending agriculture and unspoiled nature (largely classified as a ZNIEFF for its rich flora and fauna), perfect for relaxing walks or bike rides. Nestled in a plain of cultivated fields and hedged meadows dotted with idyllic ponds, it's close to wild woodlands (including the vast Gergy communal forest, the literal "green lung" of the area), as well as the banks of the Saône and Doubs rivers (a true paradise for kayakers and anglers thanks to its renowned fishing spots). Both are protected as Natura 2000 sites for their remarkable ecosystems (exceptional bird sanctuaries boasting 160 species, as well as numerous rare plant varieties, and also famous for its catfish, zander, and carp). The cottage offers excellent comfort and is exceptionally spacious. A beautiful living space enhanced by the elegant stone fireplace mantel from the original building. Warm country charm with contemporary touches. A peaceful and serene atmosphere. Full of character. Cozy and inviting. A large terrace (sunny and shaded) opens onto a 1000m² enclosed garden with natural grass, adjacent to a pleasant pétanque court, offering lovely unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside. Composition: Detached house. Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Gas central heating + wood-burning stove. Air conditioning. Ground-floor cottage: kitchen, living/dining room, 3 bedrooms (one with a double bed 140x190cm / one with two single beds 90x190cm / one with a double bed 140x190cm), 2 of which have en-suite shower rooms (showers, one with a toilet and one open to the bedroom), separate toilet. Enclosed garden (1000m²) + terrace + garage (1 space) + bicycle storage + private pétanque court. Small shops and supermarket 7 km away. All amenities 16 km away. A charming, authentic traditional Bresse farmhouse, completely renovated into an ultra-comfortable holiday home - nestled on a pleasant 1000m² garden adorned with a pétanque court - located on the edge of a small village, bordering fields, a stone's throw from the banks of the Saône, in a protected area designated as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its rare ecosystems, 7 km from the charming, typical village of Saint-Martin-en-Bresse, 8 km from the picturesque town of Verdun-Ciel, a river marina nestled at the confluence of the Doubs and the Saône (both towns boasting numerous shops and services, including supermarkets) and 16 km from Chalon-sur-Saône (designated a "City of Art and History"). In the heart of the preserved countryside, in the hollow of the Val de Saône plain mixing agriculture & nature (largely protected as a ZNIEFF for its rich ecosystems), between cultivated fields, hedged meadows & beautiful wild forests, about thirty kilometers (equidistant) from the vineyards of the Côtes Chalonnaises (including the famous "Val d'Or" of Mercurey & the splendid Vaux valley, "the little Switzerland of Chalonnaise"), the Mâconnais as well as the world-renowned Côtes de Beaune & Hautes Côtes de Beaune ("Route des Grands Vins" to discover which extends the illustrious "Route des Grands Crus" crossing the mythical wine villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Meursault…) and about fifty kilometers from the vineyards of the Jura. On the route of a listed trail ("Sentier du grand Pâquiers" linked to the Natura 2000 Zone / numerous marked "natural" footpaths and "green walks" to discover in the area), not far from the Romanesque churches circuit, 7 km from the Voie Bleue adjoining the EuroVélo6 cycle route as well as the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de la Saône-et-Loire à vélo), 11 km from the Voie Verte "Voie Bressane" (serving the Bresse Bourguignonne) connected to the Voie Verte de la "Boucle de Bourgogne du Sud" and 12 km from the Voie du Tacot (serving Beaune). On the borders of Chalonnais and Bresse Bourguignonne (birthplace of the famous AOC Bresse poultry), at the crossroads of Côte d'Or, Pays Beaunois, & Tournugeois-Clunisois (labeled "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire"), not far from the Jura massif. Ideally located for easy exploration (A6 & RCEA access 17 km away): 11 km from the Chalon-sur-Saône golf course, 24 km from Seurre, 25 km from Pierre-de-Bresse (a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté"), 26 km from the charming medieval wine-growing village of Givry, 28 km from Beaune (the illustrious fortified city, "capital of Burgundy wines"), 32 km from Chagny (renowned for its Sunday morning gourmet market), 36 km from Louhans, capital of the Bresse region of Burgundy (famous for its "Street of 157 Arcades" and its highly regarded Monday market, a designated "Remarkable Site of Taste"), 40 km from Tournus, and 41 km from the medieval town of Saint-Gengoux-le-National (a designated "Town of Character of Burgundy-Franche-Comté"). Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region), 44 km from Le Creusot TGV station, 53 km from Dole (a designated "City of Art and History") and 55 km from Lons-le-Saunier. It seems like the perfect base for a relaxing getaway with friends or family, complete with lively games of pétanque!
