New reviews! Best hotels in Gitega Province

Wotif Verified Review
3 / 5
There are certainly positives here. The room was very clean, though small, and there is even a small workout room with three aerobic machines. The WiFi may be the best you can get in Gitega, IDK. It was promoted by other reviewers but was not consistent for me.
I wanted to give a review a little higher than "okay" but a little less than "good" but you have to choose one or the other.
Drawbacks are the staff. Not very welcoming and, for the most part, do not communicate well. I have stayed in many African hotels (8 countries over 15 years) and so say this understanding the cultural differences. Given that this property is endorsed by the UN and expects global traffic, though, I was surprised at the lack of effort to make one feel welcome and to seek to accommodate needs. It's definitely a "here's how it comes" kind of place.
And the "here's how it comes" definitely applies to the breakfast buffet. Many recycled items. So hard to know what is fresh one's first day. I chose not to take dinner there.
Two other things to note: bring your own mosquito net. Or spray yourself well before bedtime. I didn't think mine would be required here, but on my third day killed two that evening and so took precautions. Also, be prepared to put in the ear plugs if loud music keeps you from sleeping. It was only a problem one night, and the band was actually pretty good, still, I needed to sleep.
They do give you a new bottle of water every day, and only forgot once.
