Royal Golf

I stayed at the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch with my dog. The golf course and surrounding area are absolutely stunning — clearly a lot of care goes into keeping them in top condition. The hotel itself has charm and a lovely old-world feel, but unfortunately the guest experience didn’t match the setting. Service in the restaurant was underwhelming, and the room wasn’t as clean as it should have been, with a stained carpet. It almost felt like they look after the course better than the guests. With such an incredible location, a little more focus on service and housekeeping would make all the difference.

Food was delicious, a bit pricey but everywhere is pricey nowadays. Bed very comfortable. Just small things like sofa could have been vacuumed and areas in room that are touched a lot could have been cleaned, but the room was clean overall.

Great Hotel in all aspects- Hotels.com not so grea

Great stay all room, restaurant, service and food all if high standard. Only disappointing thing is that we booked this via Hotels.com the night before our stay to find it notably cheaper for exactly the same room the following morning on Hotels.com. Messaged them but customer services refused to credit my account with difference and said price guarantee now not in use despite web site still saying it is with links in place to claim. Will make me think twice re booking via Hotels.com again.

A quality stay

Excellent stay, only one night but well worth it, staff were fantastic and so hard working the boys in the restaurant/bar never stopped and still kept up with requests from the reception desk. Room view was great across the firth and the sunrise was a particular bonus treat. The quality of the food was excellent including a wonderful Sunday roast and continued to a delicious breakfast, the kitchen staff should be proud of the dishes they have served.
