This place was absolutely gross. We did not stay there. No security. Only lock was on the bedroom. Upstairs had complete access as there was no door between up and downstairs. This should not rentable

I arrived at the property late at night. It wasn't made clear to me how I was to gain access into the house to get to the accommodation. The neighborhood appeared to be low income and the lighting outside of the house was poor.When I arrived the parking spot was occupied by a friend of the man who rented the upstairs.I met the renter in the front yard. He was shirtless and intoxicated. He escorted me to the basement accommodation and gave me a tour. There was no door to secure the entire unit. Only the bedroom and the bathroom had a lock but the bathroom was down the hall opening from the kitchen area. The kitchen, dining and sitting area had a door but there was no lock ON IT.The listing does not make it clear that kitchen, dining and lounge area are not a secure part of the accommodation. The house entrance was not secure as the entrance is shared. It was way to get the key from the bedroom. There was a very small TV in the bedroom but the room had no chairs to sit on.The owner did show up in response to my complaint to VRBO. When I stated my disatisfaction and concern over the lack of security to the acommodatuin, she told me no one goes down there. It was clear the upstairs renter did. She stated, "he's not supposed to come down there". Her assurance did not aleviate my concn. VRBO was not helpful in getting new accommodation, or followinerng up with my submitted complaint or my subsequent emails.
