Good base to explore the Argentinian Patagonia.

This hotel offers a great base to explore the Argentinian Patagonia and Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. It has a rustic feel to it but it is clean and the rooms are comfortable. As a base for adventurous tourists, they need better breakfast options. Most tours depart at 6 am and their restaurant opens at 6am. There is little to no flexibility in terms of preparing breakfast boxes or opening the restaurant earlier, so they need to work on this. We missed our breakfast on one occasion precisely because of this.

We ended up in El Calafate following a week of hiking across the border in Chilean Patagonia. In the end we decided not to stay an extra day in El Calafate to travel to the Perito Moreno glacier because we had seen a number of glaciers in Chile, so we had just one night at the Mirador del Lago, but it is a very nice hotel. In fact, the hotel was the high point of our visit to El Calafate -- even if the view of the lake is actually across a street and through some trees. A check of other dining options in El Calafate also led us to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant as well, and we were not disappointed.

Nice stay

We had a nice stay. The service was very friendly. The one uncomfortable thing for us was that our room was very hot at night even with the window open. We had a nice meal at the restaurant.

Great Hotel in El Calafate

Great Hotel with great views of lago Argentino. The restaurant has an excellent breakfast buffet. Juan at the front desk was incredibly helpful! Veronica was also very friendly and helpful!

I booked two rooms - one Superior with Lake View and one standard. As I arrived, I was told the lake view is not good since it’s on first floor and hence was asked to take a superior room with no view. I had no other option. The second room was so tiny that it was difficult to move around. The room smelled bad and I complained to the front desk. Someone came and sprayed air freshener.

Excellent food. I had a room near the road an awakened several times to motor bikes, buses and dogs barking. Would recommend a room off the front road. Staff very helpful and friendly.
