Chill time in Esposende
Firstly thank to owner Joana for being so responsive. The house in Esposende totally fitted the holiday brief - we wanted somewhere coastal but chill without the hordes of tourists and tat! The old part of Esposende (10 mins stroll from house) is a lovely old fishing village - great tapas and light bites to be had al fresco in the main square of an evening - there's a sushi restaurant that looks good, too! The house is only a five minute walk to a beach which is low surf and PERFECT for swimming in the morning before heading out to the sights of Viana do Castello, Guimarães (beautiful) Braga or river swimming at Moledo. Great wild beach walks on the camino from nearby Ofir. The house has so much light, the rooms downstairs smelt a little stuffy on arrival but were fine within 24 hrs of opening (just needed airing) and there are mosquito nets so you can keep the windows open of a night! Lovely long terrace that gets the sun for morning pilates and for evening drinks, too. We had a hitch with the heat pump/jhot water but Joana was on it straight away and all sorted within the afternoon. Great to have such a considerate owner who puts as much thought into the property. PS The cat is lovely but don't be fooled, she has a home right next door!
