Family holiday
The communication from Mike throughout was excellent. The property itself was spacious, well equipped and has several terraced areas, which are perfect for either a large family or 2 x families. Because it’s in the mountains the views are absolutely outstanding, we spent many evenings sipping wine and playing games on the terrace. The pool area is spacious with plenty of Sun loungers and there is a large parasol to give shade when needed. We did many a trip out but we especially enjoyed Lucca which is about 45 min away and Barga which is about 30 min away. The local shop ( down the mountain) has a reasonable supply of goods and lovely fresh bread. We also ate at Da Sandra’s which was very good and reasonable. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable holiday, which we didn’t want to end.

Fantastic getaway in beautiful location
Great house with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Very good kitchen and lounge. Pool is great and outdoor dining /barbecue. Honestly was nothing more we could have wanted during our stay, there were guidebooks and maps, great WiFi, board games and Scrabble. Loved the location, unspoiled and the night skies terrific too. Local restaurant Da Sandra well worth a visit. Spar in local village very friendly. Nearby towns have everything and look out the very special deli L'Aia Di Piero in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. A car is needed but we loved the roads, terrific panoramas.

Tuscan retreat
Beautiful rustic Tuscan retreat in the mountains with breathtaking views. We enjoyed barbecues and breakfasts on the terrace and relaxing by the pool. The road up was quite an experience but we got used to it and visited Lucca, Barga and the local villages, plus a fabulous Sunday lunch at Sandra’s. Michael was very accommodating and helpful. The peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and space made for a very relaxing holiday.

Traditional rural farmhouse
This was a very last minute booking but it proved to be a rare find/ real gem for nature lovers who appreciate the panoramic views and medieval hill top villages. We wanted an authentic/traditional Tuscan farmhouse and we were not disappointed. The house was spacious especially with access to the metato. The pool was an ideal size and depth. To get there we followed the instructions sent to us which were very accurate- the road up is a bit steep and winding but the views you get en route are amazing - the road is nothing a confident driver would struggle with but you need to take your time and enjoy it. The property was excellent value for money compared to other villas we looked at in Italy but was a welcoming safe get away for us all during the Covid pandemic. The villa is within easy travelling distance of Lucca, Pisa and the beaches (try the free beach at Marina Lago del Puccini rather than paying at Viareggio) plus local villages such as Barga.

Lovely place, but some things to be aware of.
We had a great week and the location is beautiful! It was very clean and the layout of the property is very conducive to having two different families stay. With that said, there are things that should noted. 1. Learning about the scorpions upon our arrival was a bit unnerving, more so when we continued to see one per day. We understand the home is in a forested area, so did expect some bugs, but, as we were traveling with an infant, and 4 kids under 12, we had to be hyper aware the whole time. Obviously, the owners can't do anything about them, but, unless I missed something in the description, there was nothing written about this fact beforehand. 2. Additionally, there are cameras that are set about the property and these are unnerving as we had children running around most of the time.  The owners explain this in the literature they send after your booking and there are ways to ensure privacy, but they should simply be turned off while guests are there. It's a bit creepy. 3. Lastly, the mattresses on the beds could use replacing, particularly in the Metato. Decent new mattresses can be purchased cheaply at IKEA Italy so it is easy enough to update them.  Again, we had a wonderful week. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed dining outdoors to appreciate the view. Michael was very communicative and polite. He responded very promptly to emails and was attentive to our inquiries. Thank you.

A True Vacation Home
Tagoli is a beautiful villa high up in the mountains with views that are unparalleled. The rooms are spacious, and there is plenty of common space to accommodate larger groups. The pool is sparkling, and the temperature is perfect to cool off in the heat of the afternoons. The drive up the mountain is a real experience, but you get used to it. One thing to note for other travelers -- and maybe this is just an American thing -- but we were a little surprised that the house did not have any supplies (trash bags, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, etc.). Future visitors should make sure to stop for provisions before arrival or arrange for those provisions to be delivered from the local store. We arranged for the local store to stock the house with some groceries before we arrived, and we were glad we did. We cooked a good deal at the villa, but in the two and a half weeks we stayed at the villa, we managed to try most of the local restaurants in the area (they were all great but Da Sandra is fabulous, and Al Laghetto shouldn't be missed). Overall the villa was gorgeous, and the days slipped by in the way they do only at the best vacation homes. We were thrilled with our experience.

Perfection
The farmhouse was not only as described and but far exceeded our expectations.  The view and serenity are truly amazing. We stayed for three weeks with our 4 adult children and their families ( children from 2-13 years old); rotating in and out as they toured Italy. The kitchen was well stocked and easily handled meal preparation for 9 plus people. The Farmhouse and the Metato accommodated social gathering for meals and relaxation while also offering each family privacy when wanted.   The drive up the mountain, was a bit hairy for folks from the plains of America, l but one we quickly adjusted to. (Hint: take your time and tap the horn before a sharp curve.) The drive was well worth it to stay at Tagoli. It didn’t deter us from making several day trips to Lucca, Pisa, Barga, Fabbriche di Vallico, and Castelnuovo—all within a 90 minute drive. We enjoyed a cooking class and winery tour just outside of Lucca.   Train service in and out of Lucca is excellent and provides easy access to the whole of Italy.  We also made two visits to Da Sandras—excellent and authentic Tuscan food at a great value. Our visit was wonderful!

Great location if you love the mountains.
Authentic and well renovated farm house with all essential amenities, including dishwasher with is appreciated when you are nine people in the house (it fits 11). Access to the house requires some careful driving up the mountain (about 15 minutes), but you are rewarded by the most spectacular view. We did some day trips to Lucca, Pisa and Cinque Terre, as well as shorter trips to Grotto del Vente and Ponte delle Maddalena. Just as much time was spent at the very nice pool which is a lifesaver during the height of summer. This house and location is highly recommended if you value privacy, quiet surroundings and great views, and don't mind the drive up and down the mountain.

Idyllic Tuscan Holiday
We stayed in the villa in August for 11nights. In total there were 9 people in our group. The villa is fantastic - it comfortably sleeps 9 people (and more!) and was very well equipped, clean and in a beautiful location. The villa is located in the mountainous region of Tuscany and is remote, however it is a short (20minute) drive down the mountain to supermarkets etc. The villa is very well equipped - especially the kitchen - and Mike (the owner) has kindly provided lots of information about local activities and restaurants which made our stay very enjoyable. The villa is beautifully restored and the pool and sun terrace area are perfect for relaxing. The villa was very clean and tidy and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend this villa to anyone thinking of travelling to Tuscany for a holiday with family and friends.

Beautifully converted buildings in an outstanding natural setting. Highly recommended.
Comfortable and spacious accommodation for four families, including three under-4's. Lovely pool and spacious grounds with good shade, outside eating areas etc. Huge views, and no traffic noise. We were very reluctant to leave!
