The Cottage at Wintersun is a 4br/3b 2000sf beautifully decorated home located on the 130 acre Wintersun Estate in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, and only 20 minutes from the vibrant and exciting city of Asheville, NC and the Biltmore Estate.

For disc golf lovers the house is surrounded by two private disc golf courses so you can play-in and play-out right from your front yard. The disc golf courses have been rated in the top percentage of private courses on the east coast and they are absolutely private, no other players! The short course (11 holes) can be played in 1 hour, while the long course (18 holes) takes about 3 hours and has 4 miles of fairways.

For hikers and walkers you have access to 4 miles of beautiful private hiking trails on the 130 acre Wintersun Estate with beautiful mountain views and much flora and fauna.

Inside the Cottage the upstairs living room has a gas log fireplace and TV with a large comfortable sofa and chairs. There are 3 bed rooms upstairs and 2 baths. Two bedrooms have twin beds while the third has a queen bed and ensuite bath. All linens are supplied.

The kitchen is completely furnished with cooking utensils, coffee maker, microwave, stove, 2 ovens, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, flat ware, plates, glassware, serving platters, cookware, and pots and pans. There is also a washer and dryer.

The downstairs family room has a large screen TV with a large sofa and leather chairs and a kitchenette with a stove and refrigerator for beverages and snacks. There is one bedroom downstairs with a king bed and a full bath. linens supplied. The downstairs dining room is decorated with an antique table and can seat 8 comfortably.

Off of the family room there is a large outside patio with a gas fire pit and comfortable seating.

Guests have access to a trout stream that runs through the estate for fly fishing May-February. A fishing license is required and can be obtained at most Wal-Mart's or Dicks Sporting Goods.

Perfect everytime

We do a guys trip to Wintersun every year for disc golf. The course is awesome and the cottage is always perfect. This year they had to deal with the hurricane and did a great job of clearing out the debris and cleaning up the property.

Lovely retreat

We had the best time at this property. The grounds are immaculate, the house is clean, and it feels secluded while being close to everything. If you like disc golf, the courses were excellent. And the on site hiking was wonderful! Loved it.

Mountain retreat

This cottage is set on an incredibly beautiful property with acres of meadows and trails. The cottage is comfortable but filled with many, many breakable objects. This made parents anxious about breakage. Happily, everything was left intact.

Disc golf getaway

We came up here for a disc golf bachelor party with my buddies and it did not disappoint at all. Property was fantastic and had tons of sleeping arrangements that suited all 8 of us just fine. Were all wanting to come back again next year. The courses were wonderful and definitely got some steps in from them! Thank you for letting us stay there.

Sober Disc Golf Trip

My friends and I have for the past 5yrs had a private disc golf tournament. Since the IDGH in Appling, GA. was under construction we ventured out to different locations. We found this gem! It was fantastic and accommodated us perfectly. Every room has a gas fire place, the kitchen was big enough for all of us, and the front porch was the perfect setting to have morning reflections. The short course was great, however, the long course is extremely difficult (we are all intermediate level players); but we still had a lot of fun and they were well maintained with nice baskets. The only complaints I had were the hot tub never got warm, and the grill was very underwhelming. Super close to a grocery store!

Favorite Family Vacation

This is our 3rd or 4th trip to Wintersun. It is one of our favorite places to come and relax.... The property is beautiful and we love hiking on the estate trails. We also love that we can bring our dog. It is nice to find a property that will comfortably accommodate a big group. We will definitely be back!

Loved this place!

Wintersun was the perfect place to enjoy our Thanksgiving with family and friends! The house was so cozy and comfortable and big enough for all our 11 guests. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas! The house was well-equipped for all our needs and the grounds were beautiful. My brother brought his fly-fishing rods and tried out the trout stream. We really enjoyed the natural gas fire pit outside! Plus it was great to take our dogs! We will definitely rent Wintersun again. Judy was a great host and so easy to work with.

Wintersun Wonderland

The cottage was such a surprise. We were looking for a nice place to snuggle in with our son who is a freshman at UNCA and we stumbled on Wintersun. The disc golf course drewme in, but wow! I had no idea we would be staying on our own private preserve with miles of hiking trails to explore! It could not have been a more perfect fit for us. Another bonus is that it is dog friendly. Our son was able to reconnect with his girl, Gertie!

Knitters week-end retreat

Wonderful weekend. It ended up being 4 of us, women of age. The bedroom situation was perfect because 2 of the women have difficulty with stairs. It is hard to find a house with more than one bedroom on the main floor, but this one has three! Beautiful, quiet setting! The trees were turning colors…it was Heavenly!

A unique experience I hope to repeat!

Our favorite place in the mountains!

I chose to spend my birthday at this wonderful house with my family. It is our 7th time staying here. We love the beautiful setting and great paths to walk around the property. My husband and sons love the disc golf and our dogs love wading in the steam. We also love how easy it is drive into Asheville and the great communication with Judy and Susan, the owners. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Peaceful location

We 7 cousins (all “seniors” in age only) enjoyed 4 nights at the cottage. Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen, walkable trails right at the back door. We enjoyed the Biltmore experience and lunch at the Grove Park Inn, both within 20 minutes of the cottage. We recommend this rental!

Cozy, Beautiful, and surrounded by Nature

Everyone loved the house and grounds. Hard to believe you can be so close to Asheville but have this much nature around you. The house is very well equipped, beautifully decorated, and sits in a pasture filled with wildlife. Wake to birds singing, watch the Turkeys feed, then walk around the expansive property. Western NC at it's very best!

Wonderful stay once again!

This is our 6 or 7th time staying at this house. We love it! My husband and sons love to play disc golf and fish in the stream. We all love to hike around the beautiful trails with our dogs and then relax around the fire pit in the evening. We love the proximity to Asheville's breweries restaurants and shopping. There's no other house like it with so much to do right at the house.
