If you are looking for a cabin with amazing views, convenience to endless variety of activities, and all the amenities you desire, look no further. Our spacious cabin offers three levels of living with five bedrooms and three and half baths. No detail has been left out with our outdoor space intended to enjoy beautiful mountain views, sunrises, sunsets, or night star gazing. We have two level of decks with lots of new furniture to relax in, an outdoor wood burning fireplace, a 8 person hot tub and firepit. These amazing views can also be enjoyed inside where there is a large picture window in our living room and loft area. For those who do not want to miss their favorite sporting event, we have seven TVs available for enjoying your favorite movie or sports team. Even though we are in the mountains, we have great wifi service to stream with, Bluetooth speakers to enjoy music outside, There is a wet bar area with pool table , puzzles, and games to play. Our garage space has fussball and cornhole. Our kitchen is well equipped with anything you may need to cook for your crew. We have both a Keurig and standard drip coffee pot. We are located very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the New River. Other activities that are 30 minutes to an hour away include all ski resorts, Grandfather Mountain, Mast General Store, Tweetsie Railroad, Blowing Rock. Our cabin is conveniently located off of Highway 221 and is easy to get to even when there is a lot of snow. We have plenty of parking on the driveway or street above our home.

From the moment we walked in, we were so excited to be there! Bear Necessity was even bigger and more beautiful than the pictures showed. Every detail was thought of, from the cozy living spaces, to the fully stocked kitchen that had everything we needed. Plenty of room in the house for everyone. Oh the views!! Waking up each morning to the mountains right outside the window was breathtaking, and in the evenings we hung out in the hot tub under the stars. It felt peaceful, private, and like a true retreat.The pool table and the space it was in was awesome for bringing everyone together for endless fun! We would come back in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a mountain escape. Our host was fantastic with communication from the moment of booking all the way through our stay. Bear Necessity is a must for your next mountain escape!

Amazing Views!!

We had a great time staying at this property. The home is beautiful and the views from the wrap around porch and living room are amazing!! The large windows allow nice natural light to come in. The area is quiet and nice. We encountered some minor issues but Leanna was on top of the communication and solved the issues for us. We were 15 people in total and it was perfect. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Our family enjoyed this spacious house with rustic-cabin charm combined with all the comforts and conveniences we needed, and with quick access to the highway for attending to and hosting various wedding activities in Boone and at Sky Retreat.

House was very nice and in a beautiful location. Only complaint would be that the hot tub didn’t work. The trash was also not picked up when we arrived but owner was accommodating upon checkout and the bags were left on top of cans outside.

We had 10 adults in our party & this house was a perfect size. Very comfortable in it allowed togetherness & places for alone time. We never felt crowded. Three full baths was a definite plus! We had a full family gathering one afternoon with 23 people in attendance. With the outside deck & seating everyone enjoyed the views and was comfortable. The young adults enjoyed the hot tub. There is a photo of the pool table on VRBO but it was not available for use.

Perfect family vacation!

We stayed with our 2 teens, our adult children, their spouses, and our 4 grandbabies. The cabin was everything we wanted and needed for the week for all 14 of us. The owner was so kind and responsive! And the cabin was just incredible. Would love to return and would absolutely recommend!

Great Family House

We have been renting houses for our Thanksgiving with our kids and grandkids for many years and this one was the best. It was very roomy. We had 15 people and it never felt crowded. The fireplace on the porch was a popular place. Loved the large patio and hot tub. The views are fantastic. The large pantry allowed us to keep all the food we brought out of the way. Plenty of parking for 5 vehicles. Can’t say enough about this rental. We will definitely do our next family gathering here again.

Phenominal long weekend

This cabin was even more perfect than we thought! It was close to West Jefferson, Boone, Blue Ridge Parkway. We hiked Trashcan Falls, the views were amazing. Our grandkids loved this so much! They loved playing on the hill! We're hoping to book this same cabin this coming summer!

Great Stay, terrible communication afterwards.

The cabin was wonderful. It was beautiful and it was in accurate description. However, I got a message over a day later accusing me of having a dog in the house, and they were not pet friendly. We never had a dog in the house. We stayed in the house because we were getting married in the area. We actually live locally though and my parents live right next-door. They did not stay in the house and they watched my dog all weekend. It would not make sense for me to bring my dog to the house. The cleaning crew found one furball and they sent me a picture. They claimed that the master bedroom had hair all over it and the bedspread. They never sent me pictures of these things. They also accused me of finding dog food. They never sent me pictures of this either. I am not going to lint roll my clothes before I go into a house just because I have a husky at home and she is shedding in the fall. If I would’ve had her in the house, there would be a lot more hair and she would’ve sent me a lot more pictures. I am very disappointed with her trying to charge me extra fees because she found one fur ball from my long hair dog that I picked off my clothes when I got there. Beware of them being picky. I have over a dozen people that will testify and I am so upset that they have put this damper on my wedding weekend.

Big house, beautiful view

The gated community was easy enough to find but the house itself was up winding, curved slightly steep road and all the roads are named similar. After you find the house it is easy to find again. The house has plenty of room for everyone and seating inside and out with a beautiful view. Kitchen is large and cupboards and drawers are marked so it was easy to find things. Quiet neighborhood. Parking and driveway were less than desirable because of the steepness but there was plenty of room for our vehicles. Really cozy home, comfortable beds in a beautiful area. Communication with owner was easy and they got back to us quickly when we had questions.
