The rooms look like they could use updating. The style looked old and worn to me. The breakfast buffet had many options. The crepe omelet was awesome. Tamara at the business center was incredibly helpful and kind. Sephora at reception took the time to give us many suggestions for hiking. She was spot on!

Generally the hotel service and facilities were very good. The room was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was abundant and varied with good quality. The hotel staff were kind and helpful in general. There were a few areas where the service or facilities were not consistently good and require attention.

Just returned from a 4 night stay in this hotel. What a beautiful hotel. I would say it is ideally suited to over 50s, superb rooms with everything you could wish for. Sea views, fantastic breakfast and evening meals. There is a buffet evening meal or a la carte or bar snacks. Complimentary taxi from the hotel into Valetta town near the bus station. Its a short walk but it is up a hill, so its great and runs every 20 mins. no need to book it. The staff are fantastic. the rooms are cleaned and beds changed every 2 days, turn down service in the evenings with complimentary chocolates left on your bed side table. towels given for the pool areas. Fantastic indoor pool with hot tub and very grand outdoor pool with amazing views. Cannot rate this hotel high enough. Book bed and breakfast and you can decide which evening meal you require and book at the reception for the evening. food in the bar area in the evening is great to. We had 2 evening meals in the admirals lounge buffet style. The international evening on a Monday was the best. Maltese buffet on the Wednesday wasnt as much to our liking, but well worth the money. We had an evening meal in the bar area one night excellent food, and 1 night out at the famous 33 steps taxi there and back 5 euros each way. Fantastic food and atmosphere. We will definitely return to this hotel, dont stay anywhere else you are guaranteed to love this place as much as we did.

Nice bright public areas though the bedrooms are clearly in need of some updating and the hotel’s definition of a deluxe suite is a bit ambitious. The full sea view was simply a narrow view of the harbour. Not worth the extra cost. Go for a side sea view on the pool side for a better vista. Had specifically requested a high floor room in advance of arrival but was given a room on the first floor, one above the ground even though there are 10 floors. Disappointing. Bar area packed with no seating or tables available. Nearly 100 steps out to the street or a very steep slope. Despite the downsides, place is comfortable, good choice for breakfast, very convenient for Valetta

Loved Malta stay at Grand Hotel Excelsior. The moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and welcome drink. Raj Kumar was very friendly and helpful from front desk. He guided us on taking the Gozo day trip on our own. Excellent customer service by Raj and all others at the hotel. Reading some negative reviews on the hotel I was bit hesitant on booking, but the hotel exceeded our expectations. Hotel is walkable to the main center of Valleta. Rooms were spacious with daily housekeeping. We enjoyed our stay three days stay with Excelsior. Breakfast was good with ample choices. We would certainly stay here on our next Malta trip. Highly recommend it.

Staff were excellent including front deal, restaurant, concierge and tour desk. Provided valuable assistance and advice. They recommended a superb restaurant for dinner one night (?Remplia) and we booked a private tour one day that took us around with a great local Driver/guide. The public areas inside the hotel are spacious and “grand”. The rooms are comfortable but dated- worn carpet and awful looking bedspreads…. But removing the bedspread revealed a bright white duvet, so we left that exposed. The exterior looks a bit worn too. One area is under renovation. Indoor pool was warm and quite large, and we used it several times. Best part that makes this excellent value, and that would lead us to stay here again, is the location. Just a few minutes walk to the Valletta city gates. We walked up there most days. Overall a very satisfying stay!

3 Nights in Malta

3 night stay in Malta, the hotel was more then I expected! Very upscale from what we usually stay at. The staff was very professional and courteous. The room was large and spacious. Breakfast was fantastic! The area is very clean and felt very safe. Close to many things.
