Westwind Cottage is the perfect Georgian Bay Muskoka cottage. A magical place that takes you back to nature. Pine and cedar panelled family cottage, overlooking Twelve Mile Bay, Georgian Bay / Muskoka, with large wrap around decks. Two swimming beaches, swim raft and 2 large new docks excellent for sunning, reading, swimming, canoe/kayak, boating and fishing. Fully equipped kitchen, dining room with wood stove, living room with fireplace, card table, and 3 bedrooms and 4 pc bathroom. Main cottage sleeps 4, main bedroom with a king, and a second bedroom with a queen and a small bunk room. Large sleeping cabin sleeps 4, 2 queens, bunk and seating area with couch.

This comfy cottage had many quiet spots for meditation/reading/ conversations. The owner was quick to respond to any questions and things were in good order. Two fridges were very useful - no need to get more supplies in town. We loved the sunrises, sunsets, even the Milky Way. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, walks, and the daily visits of a blue heron in the end of our little bay. September was an excellent time to visit!

Beautiful stay at a beautiful location!

We hosted a family reunion here, and had a splendid time at Paul’s WestWind cottage. The nature and overall setting was wonderful, with the large wrap around deck and two docks being a huge plus for our group. Being right beside the private nook bay was amazing, allowing us to have more privacy. There were plenty of water sports provided and fishing just off the dock was also great! Inside the cottage, you can tell all is very cared for and we truly felt right at home upon arrival. All the small details added tons of character, and really gave a cozy and homey feel. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you could ever need. At night, Paul’s property had very beautiful lighting all around the front and back of the cottage, leading up to both docks and the bunkie. All steps and surroundings were visible and we felt very safe! Clear skies allowed for exceptional stargazing. Overall, our group had a tremendous stay. We would highly recommend WestWind for anyone considering.

Beautiful, classic Georgian Bay cottage

We loved our stay at this cottage. An idyllic setting, especially for those who love to be on the water. Great swimming, kayaking and ample outdoor space to spread out for a group. It is obvious that the cottage is a well-loved family cottage and we were thankful to get to spend time here. The host Paul was quick to respond and friendly.

Michigan Family exploring the Georgian Bay

Family from Michigan had a great 4 night stay at this wonderful cottage on 12 Mile Bay. The view from the windows are great! Hummingbirds and Loons everywhere. Communication with the host was excellent and the cottage interior was wonderful for the family to enjoy meals and relax in the morning and the evening. We took a day trip to canoe to Moon River Falls – about 16Km drive away to rent canoes at Moon River Cottages (highly recommended). We also took another day trip to Parry Sound to explore the town and take a jet boat tour of the islands. We used the onsite canoe at the cottage to paddle around the near the cottage and even though it was early June we braved the cold waters for a quick swim and then warm up in the sauna. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed for cooking family meals and the large Weber grill was perfect for grilling burgers outside. Entire family enjoyed the place and got to unplug as much as needed. Although there is good wifi and a cell phone tower about 1km away, so if you need to stay connected or have entertainment that works too. Definitely recommend this rental!

Even though we picked the two worst weather days of the summer we still had a great time swimming, the sauna, kayaking, paddle boarding The cottage was great, beds were comfortable , very clean and included everything we needed. Paul was extremely helpful and responded quickly to any of our questions.

Peaceful and gorgeous

I surprised some friends visiting from the UK with a weekend at Westwind cottage, and we all loved it from the moment we pulled in. Beautiful location, perched right over the water. The stars are incredible. Sauna, canoes, paddle boards, kayaks, huge decks, swimming dock, fire pit, plus all the comforts of a well-loved family cottage. Very quiet at night and feels quite remote, but with friendly neighbours a 10-minute canoe ride down the bay. Paul was so helpful and made our stay really nice.

Fantastic holiday!

We loved this cottage! It's spacious, comfortable and equipped with all you could possibly need. The location is beautiful and swimming amazing. We made great use of the paddle boards and kayaks to explore Twelve Mile Bay. The owner, Paul, was quick to answer questions/offer great suggestions. Highly recommend!

Quintessential Canadian Experience

We were looking for a wilderness experience without sacrificing comfort. Our stay at the Westwind did not disappoint. The Westwind cottage is built into and around the natural features of a rustic shoreline. The rock, water and trees are integrated into the construction and build of this cottage. The cottage overhangs the shoreline and provides an infinite attachment to the water of 12 Mile Bay. Our family loves the water, and this was a real treat. The steps and walk paths leading from one structure to another, i.e., (bunk house, sauna, firepit, docks tree house, cottage, etc.) are scribed into and incorporate the granite boulders and trees. There is even a granite boulder that intentionally protrudes into the living room of the cottage! The property itself, sits at the end of a sparsely traveled lane, and road traffic noise, is non-existent. The quiet privacy of and expansive shoreline provided the stress free, relaxing getaway we were seeking. The cottage interior and furnishings we and charming. The large single paned windows provide long views and provide ample natural light. Our goal was to disconnect from the outside world. We brought enough food for our entire stay, swam off the dock, read books and paddled the bay. If you appreciate the beauty of Georgian Bay, you will appreciate this cottage. The host, Paul P. was friendly, accommodating and attentive. We will be booking again.

My son and I booked this for a week fishing trip. The cottage was clean and neat upon arrival. Dock worked out great for our boat. There was power available within 100’ for charging trolling motor batteries. The kitchen worked out great for our needs. Paul was available and helpful with any questions that we had.

the cottage holiday we were looking for!

We had the greatest time at Westwind cottage. The pictures dont do it justice. Though, once you get there you see why the pictures emphasize the rocks, and the beach. It's all just perfectly picturesque and the Muskoka that I remember from childhood. The cottage is spacious and "cottagey" (super comfortable and cozy but just rustic enough!). Everything worked well. There were a bunch of incredible details, like ample boats and the sauna. Also, we were surprised to find brand new patio furniture which made the upper deck our favourite place to gather as a large group. At the same time, there was always a different lovely and comfortable place you could sit quietly or chat. Paul was great with communication. We definitely hope to come again!

Family fun summer vacation

Best summer vacation cottage we had . Very clean and comfortable plenty of room for all ages. The lake front view was gorgeous. We never left the cottage but had plenty of things to do.nice and quiet neighbours were far apart. The owner was excellent fast at getting back to all my crazy questions would definitely stay again

Georgian Bay Gem

We booked the cottage for a 3 day girls getaway and, frankly, it didn’t feel long enough! We had so much fun swimming and relaxing by the lake that we didn’t want to leave! The cottage itself is so charming, isolated, surrounded by trees and waterfront views of 12 Mile Bay. The cottage was well-appointed and so spacious it could have easily housed a larger group. It was also fully stocked with everything you need to enjoy your stay (games, dvds, water sports, sauna, fire pit, etc). Paul was a great host, accommodating and communicative. He would check in on us regularly and went above and beyond by even coordinating a boat ride for us (definitely a highlight!). We really enjoyed this tiny piece of Georgian Bay life and are looking forward to making this an annual tradition!! Thanks again to Paul for hosting us!

Amazing cottage!

Had a great weekend at Paul's cottage with a group of friends. It had everything we needed and in good working order. Beautiful natural landscapes, an abundance of wildlife and the night sky was teaming with stars. There's a family of otters that swam up to us at the dock every day! True cottage bliss

Like the title of this review says, this lovely property offered us true cottage bliss for an idyllic late August family vacation. There were so many highlights to our stay, chief among them the marvellous location. Georgian Bay is truly spectacular with much beauty and adventure to offer. The cottage is close to big Georgian Bay vistas but cozily tucked away in a safe, calm and private part of 12 mile bay. The cottage is right on the water with a super view of 12 mile bay. There are multiple places to swim, many boat options for paddling about. The owner was a superlative communicator, helping us with tips and suggestions for things to do and ways to maximize the cottage and location. He even arranged for a boat to pick us up (at the dock!) and take us to hike magnificent Wreck Island, a special experience. The long cabin has a wraparound deck so you can hang out and enjoy the view in multiple accommodating lounging options throughout the day. We were all comfortable eating, reading, watching movies and sleeping there. There’s even a separate bunk house which was a cool place to communally spend the night with the kids. Everyone loved it. Our week there was a hit. Definitely a cottage to go to if you want to decompress, relax and slow things right down.

Was the Best Family Vacation

There was plenty of room for our very large group, and enough to keep us busy even on our rainy mornings. The cottage is very charming, and comfortable, a home away from home. The distance to town was only an hour, easy for picking up groceries mid stay but far enough to keep you relaxing on the dock. Communication with the owner was excellent, very quick to respond to all my emails. You can see that the owner it taking care to do improvements and the new west dock was the adults favorite spot for morning coffee, watch the kids swim, and sunsets. Perfect for families. I would defiantly rent again.

Truly AMAZING!!

This is an absolutely beautiful cottage on the water. John was super responsive and accommodating. The cottage has everything you need to have a fun outdoorsy time. A big BBQ, a fire pit, beautiful kitchen, huge viewing deck and pier and also kayaks, canoes, stand up boards, and life jackets. We kayaked to the open water during sunset, it was magical. Also very kid friendly, we took our two babies and our friends two small children and they had a blast. I have to say, the pictures don't do this place justice. Our favourite thing about the cottage was the viewing deck on the water and small pier...absolutely gorgeous views all day. Totally recommend this cottage. Thank you John for a lovely stay.
