Thinking of putting the rat race on hold and escaping to La Rioja Alta for a getaway? Wotif features a number of fabulous hotel options.

Gimileo isn't exactly the hotel capital of La Rioja Alta. It does, however, feature the Hotel Eth Rioja, which you'll find just 3-kilometre from the centre of town.

The Hotel Arrope is located 4 kilometres from the heart of Gimileo. Or, alternatively, the Hotel Los Agustinos is 4 kilometres away. Two more hotel and apartment options around this area are the Rusticae Hotel Teatrisso and the Hotel Ruta de Europa.

Don't skedaddle before taking a look at what's on offer in the rest of the area. La Rioja is blessed with rural landscapes. Commonly visited La Rioja tourist attractions include the castles. In this section of Spain, tourists can also partake in snowboarding, skiing and mountain biking.

Haro can be found 5 kilometres to the northwest of Gimileo. While here, be sure to discover the Plaza de la Paz. Everything was great about this hotel except for one thing - very hot and stuffy in the rooms. I tried turning on the air conditioner (it worked as a fan only) and opening the window (not possible with the security lock blocking it). 10 degrees outside and i was suffering from tropics in my room. The buffet was great and overall very clean and friendly.
