Poor hotel and service

When booking it was not clear there was no windows in the room, this was only apparent after booking. We arrived at the hotel to two male staff, both slouched over the desk all very casual. When we asked about our room windows we were bluntly told sorry we’re fully booked. No information was given about facilities etc. the hotel is generally run down the front reception looks fine and they have mod con room swipes etc. but the carpets in the corridors are dirty and sticky. There is an odd smell not awful but old I guess and our room was dirty. We ran in and out initially but on arriving home later there was blood splatter on the side of the bed and there was exposed wiring from the complicated light system. The bed was hard, seemed smaller than an average single and the pillow was like sleeping on cotton wool balls. Soft yet lumpy. For the price the quality did not match. Bathroom was about the best part as it was actually clean but the room itself the walls. The mirrors all dirty and dusty. I would not recommend this hotel. Location was great but not worth it.

Great staff, quiet room in good location

The best thing about Point A hotel is the staff - very attentive, friendly, helpful - and the location, near Buchanan Street. The room was a bit spartan but adequate. It was hermetically sealed, which made it feel too warm when we didn't have the air-con on. However, it was incredibly silent, which was wonderful. We didn't have breakfast there but the breakfast area looked nice.

We booked a room with no window but that was ok, though the lighting was not good. It felt more like a hostel. We only stayed there as it was convenient to the station for our trip the next day. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Convenient location, 10 min walk to train station and Buchanan St. Hotel was clean and they had an elevator. But room was quite small and price jumped dramatically. First night was about $100 and we had the handicap room so more spacious. Came back a week later due to unexpected circumstances and room was much smaller and $200. Left a bad impression for sure.
