The Elk — Secluded Forest Chalet
150 acres of private wilderness in the Blaeberry Valley, 20 minutes from Golden. Cabin nestled in the heart of the property, with direct views of the forest. Three private waterfalls accessible via a private trail. Thomson Falls and several well-known trails within 3 km. Direct vehicle access. Total seclusion, authentic wildlife, and the Canadian Rockies as your playground. The accommodation A warm cabin set directly in the forest — a true wilderness experience, but with added comfort. You literally feel like you're in the middle of the trees. The cabin includes: Comfortable bed, hot shower, direct forest views, fully screened mosquito-proof patio, gas barbecue, equipped kitchen, and solar lighting. Just the forest, the silence, and the Rockies. Other notes What "secluded in the middle of the forest" actually means: Total seclusion — no neighbours, just you and the forest. Solar lighting. You are staying in active wildlife habitat. Bears, elk, deer, and other animals live on and pass through the property — spotting a herd of elk or a bear in the distance is part of the experience. Secure storage of food and scented items is mandatory. Morning light comes in early. Cabin in a remote natural setting: this place lives at the rhythm of the surrounding forest. Small four-legged visitors occasionally come with the territory — this is common in the mountains. If you love nature in its most authentic form, but with essential comfort, you are exactly in the right place. Small warning (funny but true): access to the loft is by ladder, and the opening is... let's say intimate! Expect a mini contortionist act to hoist yourself up. Not ideal for larger builds, fragile knees, or urgent nighttime visits. But once you're up there, it's like a cozy nest — worth the effort, we promise! Outdoor propane shower (approximately 60L of hot water) — showering in the open air with a view of the trees is an experience in itself! (See photos.) The toilet is located about 50 m from the cabin — a short forest walk that's part of the charm and will wake you up better than a coffee!
