This home and property is tucked into 20 peaceful, forested acres and is footsteps to the pincushion trails. A short hike behind the house leads to trails along Little Devil’s Track river, lovely to explore all year around. It's well stocked with trout for fishing, great for kids to jump across on the rocks (depending on season), and even good for a dip on a hot day. A ten minute drive to Devils Track Lake offers options for swimming, paddling, boating and fishing. A five minute drive brings you right to the heart of Grand Marais (America's coolest small town) and it's a twenty minute drive to Lutsen and great downhill skiing, mountain biking, and hiking.
For those who prefer to relax and rejuvenate during their vacation, you can enjoy Pincushion Mountain Haus' private sauna and plenty of room to relax and unwind. There are games and activities for kids and adults in the house, as well as a wide variety of books. Eat out at one of the many restaurants in the area, or prepare your meal in the comfort of your private kitchen. Get out and explore, or stay in and relax.
Should you choose to venture out, you are only a few miles from several State Parks and Forests as well as the Superior National Forest. Take a drive further up the Gunflint Trail for access to inland lakes, perfect for watersports like canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding.
There are three geodesic domes on the property which are available to rent independently from the house (seasonally- May through October). They are located down the trail and out of sight from the house- please respect the privacy of these guests when passing by on the trails. Contact us if you're interested in more information on renting the domes!
There is a private caretaker's apartment attached to the house which is occupied by the house property manager. The house is completely private from this apartment and the house guests have the privacy of the house and yard, but may occasionally see management as they care for the surrounding property. Winter Oasis!
The Pincushion Mountain Haus was the perfect cabin getaway! We really enjoyed the remote woods location while also being close to Grand Marais and lutsen ski hills. Our group spent most of the time cozied up by the stove relaxing and telling stories. The host was accommodating and communicative. Couldn’t recommend this spot enough!

Pincushion Mountain Haus Fall Getaway
We had the best experience on Pincushion Mountain! The property was clean, cozy and beautifully decorated. Additionally, the location was perfect and only a few minutes from Grand Marais. We will definitely stay here again in the future because Jess and Paul were great hosts and we loved the Pincushion Mountain Haus!

Summer North Woods Getaway
Our extended family of 6 adults and 4 children age 4 and under had a wonderful time at Pincushion Mountain Huis. We had plenty of room to accommodate our group. The house was very well stocked. The location was terrific for trips into Grand Marais as well as up the Gunflint Trail. The little ones enjoyed playing in the yard, going on walks, and making s’mores over a campfire. A great vacation for all!

Best Family Vacay Spot for Active Families!
We had an absolutely amazing time at the Mountain Haus. It's right on hiking/skiing trails and so close to town or a Gunflint day trip. We had a few families, so the fact that each room had a bathroom was a game changer. It is very kid-friendly, fully equipped with all the kid stuff you will need. The hosts are very responsive and so helpful. We WILL be returning! Thank you!

Beautiful, spacious, thoughtful stay for the whole family and more
Our families had a wonderful time at the Pincushion Mountain Haus near Grand Marais, a small but adorable and artsy town on Lake Superior. We got to enjoy the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere with the convenience of being just 5 minutes from town. There was ample room for all of us (6 adults and 5 kids 11 and under) make meals in the kitchen and hang out together in the evenings. The den downstairs even had a stock of toys and games to play with. Other little details like good coffee, bathrooms in every bedroom and more, and great big windows and porch with a distant view of Lake Superior made it absolutely perfect. We couldn’t have picked a better place along the North Shore for our summer stay. The mosquitoes were the only downside—they made it hard to enjoy the big yard and fire pit as much as we would have liked.

Minnesota Magic
Look no further than the Mountain Haus! What a beautiful, spacious house in an incredible setting. The solitude of the forest is so peaceful and views of Lake Superior from nearly every room are stunning. The house is comfortable, well-designed, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make great meals at home. The ski trails right out the door and the sauna were icing on the cake!
