There was no one to help with bags. We pulled up at the front on hotel and asked the two employees at the door if we could unload there, but they sent us to the parking in the back and said to enter through there. At the back entrance there was no assistance whatsoever. We had to carry our own things in and take an elevator up to the lobby for checkin. At check-in area there was really loud live music playing and we could barely hear the desk clerk. On the positive side, the rooms were excellent as was the room service.

All the shared spaces (pool, gym, lobby, restaurant, etc) were top notch, really nice and well maintained. Our room was just ok, but could just have been the one we got...we didn't have a view at all (basically staring at a wall) and bathroom was a bit warn down. The location is great, all in all I would recommend.

We just had one night. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and we did not really spend much time in hotel - it probably just felt dated in the rooms

Were transferred to this hotel due to renovations in the first hotel book. Very pleased with this hotel. Located in a very old building but obviously renovated very well. We were pleased with the hotel change.

The Westin is fantastically conveniently located for the Via Rail station (literally connected by a walkway) and (I'm guessing because I was on a ship) for the cruise terminal across the road. It's also less than a minute from a huge supermarket, and a short scenic walk from downtown Halifax and the boardwalk. But the hotel trades on its location - the price for our room was breathtakingly expensive, and the room itself was average at best. The beds particularly were terrible - old, saggy and really uncomfortable. On the plus side, the staff were lovely and the breakfast is decent (though not sensational). But overall, a tired hotel designed for maximum profit whilst only delivering moderate satisfaction.
