Spotless and spacious room, friendly and helpful staff. Location was amazing in the middle of night market as you step off the lobby, yet rooms are quiet. Footsteps from restaurants and shops. The breakfast was wonderful with many varied options and plentiful. Lovely place to stay.

Cons: Bathroom shower heads were dirty. Aircon filter hasn't been cleaned in forever and was fully clogged. At breakfast couldn't cut the pancakes that were meant to be made fresh. Shower water pressure was very low and hot water was not hot. Bed was hard. Staff use stairs to store everything including dirty linen. Leaving very little space for my feet to step on ultra tiny compact stairs. Pros: Staff were friendly. Was checked in to my room at almost 1am. Room size is very large. Bathroom size is very large.

Some rooms only have a light well and no proper window. These are very quiet. Rooms with windows are exceptionally noisy at night as there is a nightclub nearby with karaoke. Breakfast was very good with local specialties and custom order eggs, pancakes and noodle soup. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly.

Unfortunately I would not recommend staying at The West Hotel. While the receptionists were very kind and helpful, that happened to be the only good part about our stay. On the first night, we immediately spotted small bugs climbing on the wooden furnishings of the room (and mind you that this room is mostly wood). For example, when I placed something on the wooden bedside table, a couple of bugs crawled out from beneath the hotel's telephone sitting atop the table. We opted not to say anything to the hotel staff at this time, as the bugs seemed few and harmless, and we were only going to be staying at The West for 2 nights. On the morning of our check-out, we were horrified to find hundreds of these small bugs all over the bottom of our backpacks, luggages, and other items that were resting on the floor and wooden shelving units in the room (Expedia does not have an option to upload videos). Regardless of whether these bugs are harmless, it was disturbing to see hundreds of them all over our belongings. We spent 2 hours of our morning before checkout trying to remove these bugs off of our belongings. The video attached was shown to the receptionists when we checked out, who stated that they would be taking care of this issue. Unfortunately, no compensation or apologetic gestures were offered (we had the hotel do our laundry the night before – I think the least they could have done was offer to have this complimentary given the circumstances, but they still asked for $)
