We stayed for one night as we had a long drive and had to break it up. The hotel itself is aged but renovated it appears. Lobby was nice and clean when we checked in and staff was very nice. The beds were comfortable and room was nice along with the bathrooms. Only complaint was at breakfast and I don't think this is the staff's fault, but there were a number of flies during the breakfast time with other guests coming in and out and flies were coming in and all around the breakfast items. Other guests were also leaving breakfast containers open and allowing flies to fly near the food. Otherwise, we had a good stay for the time we spent there.

Hays Holiday Inn Express-thumbs up!

The staff member at check in was EXCEPTIONAL! She gave us recommendations for where to have dinner and even provided us with coupons for discounts at businesses in the local community. The breakfast that the hotel provided was wonderful! There were so many options to choose from (eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffle station, cereal station, toast/bagels, coffee, tea, juice and more!) The hotel is located near the local Walmart so if there’s something you need, it’s really convenient to walk over and buy it. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at the hotel and recommend it for anyone looking for a nice place to stay that was very affordable!

We arrived very late and Terry at the front desk was amazing. So very kind and upbeat at 11pm at night. We had a few water bugs and other crawlies that came out of the drains in our rooms when the water was turned on (one just crawling down the hall). It took a while for the air to catch up in my room and it was hot in the main areas (but it’s July in KS). Overall, my room was clean and nice, just some small things that showed wear and tear (staining in the tub, small stains and on other areas). It was very quiet. Breakfast was DELICIOUS!! Room was large and spacious and really great pillows on my king bed!

Worst experience amenity wise. Bed was horrible, room was filthy, and a herd of elephants upstairs from us were in rare form until 12am, did not get good sleep, breakfast was slim pickings and picked over. Customer service was good.
