Should you decide to spend some time in Hillman, book a room as early as possible, as there's not a huge range of hotel choices in close proximity to Hillman's downtown.
About 70 kilometres from Hillman is Cheboygan, which offers a number of accommodation options, including the Best Western River Terrace and Continental Inn.
If you are in the centre of Hillman, it is 5 kilometres to the Thunder Bay Resort.
You'd have to be crazy to leave Hillman without seeing the other things on offer in Northern Lower Peninsula. Visit the lighthouses in Northern Lower Peninsula, or simply head off with that someone special and admire the region's lakes and rolling hills. Or spend some time snowboarding, skiing and cross-country skiing while you are here.
Alpena is 35 kilometres to the east of Hillman and is home to the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Thunder Bay River Lighthouse. Alpena hotels and accommodations are the Waters Edge Motel and Big Bear Lodge. Or, you could consider staying in Petoskey, 85 kilometres to the northwest of Hillman, where you can choose from the @ Michigan Inn & Lodge and Econo Lodge South. Regardless of whether you're passing through or spending a few nights in Petoskey, set aside some time to check out the Northern Michigan Regional Hospital, Odawa Casino and Petoskey Beach.
If enjoying sport gives you an adrenaline buzz, make the time to visit Otsego County Sportsplex, which is 60 kilometres to the west of Hillman. Those wanting to find accommodation close to the action can take their choice from the Downtown Motel or the Dixon Lake Resort.
